found store clearancing remaining new copies of SimCity 2013. good price?

#1DumpsterMcNuggetsPosted 6/8/2014 9:25:53 PM
I found a store not far from where I live, that put their last new copies of SimCity 2013 on clearance for $20. Is this a good price for this game?

I was on the fence about getting one of those copies today, mainly because I'm not sure as of right now, if $20 is comparable to common low ebay prices for a physical copy of this game. Thanks to anyone who posts, and provides an answer to my question.

One last question I have: if I buy the physical version of Sim City, is there any way to download the update from online that allows for an offline, single player mode, after Iinstalling the disc version?

All of the updates are mandatory to play the game and free.

Okay, thanks for answering my 2nd question. My first question still stands though, whether $20 is a good price for a physical disc copy of this game.

I'll probably repost this on the PC board, due to how slower(sadly) this board has been more and more getting.

I'm not touching the other question because what is of value to you is different than what is of value to me. You may think it is worth it, you may not, it is too subjective to answer.

^ I know what you're saying. It's just I want to know if vs. current in store and online prices (as of June 2014), if $20 was a good price for a new physical copy of SimCity 2013.

So far it doesn't seem bad, but I need to do a lot more price comparing of chain stores on their websites and of online sellers, before I make a decision on this. Hence why I was asking for opinions, if $20 as of right now is a decent price for this game, or if I can do better pricewise for a new physical copy of SC13?

Well you can get digital from Origin right now for $15 standard, $20 for deluxe. They got a sale going on.

GameStop, which is usually higher than anyone else, has standard for $30.

BestBuy has the limited Edition for $30.

Honestly most stores around me don't even carry it anymore though. I loved the older SC games, but as soon as this one came out I knew they changed too much. Last I heard it was broken all to pieces. I'll assume they've fixed it, but it's release left such a bad taste in my mouth I wouldn't touch it if it was given away for free.

I'm glad your opinion differs from mine. What a boring place this world would be if it didn't.

Darnit, I realize now I forgot to check the edition of SC13 it was. I want to say it was the original version of the game and not the limited edition version that came out later, IIRC. Darn the fact that this store I saw it at, is further away than the normal stores I usually check every so infrequently for deals.

If you get SimCity, you want to get the CoT expansion too, it adds a lot of nifty stuff that is VERY useful and gives you many different unique ways to make a city. As such, I recommend just buying this.

^ Thanks for the post. I'm still debating this, but after hearing about the Cities of Tomorrow expansion pack, I think I'm leaning against going back to the store I saw the clearanced copies of Sim City 2013 at, over going back to get one of those last copies. I haven't ruled it out, but will say since the last few days, I'd been starting to slowly lean against purchasing one of those copies. Will note I haven't 100% made up my mind either way for or against(except that I'm starting to lean against going back to get one of those copies), on purchasing one of those $20 clearanced copies of SC13.

And of course, I appreciate all the responses I've heard so far, to this question.
