Can Players Gain Specialties and Traits in Career Mode?

He already has the power header trait and the strength specialty , so I thought it wouldn't be unfeasible for him to maybe eventually gain the aerial threat or the distance shooter specialties along with possibly the long shot taker trait. My thinking behind this is that he already is a big kid at 6'1" 200 lbs with 90 strength, 77 jumping, 77 heading accuracy, 74 long shots, and 87 shot power. So I feel he has all the tools and skills to eventually develop those or other specialties and/or traits.
In conclusion, has anybody who has gone through a couple of seasons in career mode seen this happen? I am praying that it is possible and that players can develop specialties and traits as I feel it would add more depth to what is, in my opinion, the greatest career mode ever put into a FIFA game. I look forward to hearing your (hopefully positive) responses. Thanks!

I feel like he needs Atleast 90 in long shot and 90 power in that range Atleast. The more you shoot long shots the sooner hell get the trait Lon shot taker. Doubt hell get it though

It does happen. I've had players develop stuff like Complete Midfielder/Forward/Defender and Aerial Threat before, so I can only assume it's possible.
Will not change this sig until the 30th WWE Triple Crown Champion is crowned. (Started 20/06/2011)

Nice that's great news! Can it happen at anytime in the season?
And I know he needs to raise all of those stats up. I was just saying that he has a good base to start with.

I've had several players develop specialties (Dribbler, Playmaker, FK Specialist, et al), but don't think it's possible to develop traits.

I think specialities are gained just from having a certain stat value. whereas traits are not related to stats.

It can happen midseason. I got a player in the transfer window. I had looked over all his stuff carefully. I dont think they were playing him alot so when i got him and played him a bunch for a few matches then checked his stats they had raised because his form was up now. He had developed complete striker trait with that increase since i got him.
Ive also seen a player develop the engine trait during a season.

Specialties are stat based so any young player can gain them.
Idk if all the stats are the same or if some require higher than others but, if they are all the same then he should get a specialty when the stat tied to it reaches 86 (This is only if they are all the same if not then I know that this is the requirement for the FK Specialist specialty)
As far as traits go, no they do not develop any or at least not the youth academy players or the lesser known players. Established players may gain them but this is probably because they were coded into them to gain those traits as they progress.

I am in the first year of my career mode and while going through my squad this question just suddenly hit me. Does anyone know if it is possible for younger players to eventually develop a specialty or gain a trait? For example, I signed Jozy Altidore to Manchester United with the intention of playing him in the Capitol 1 Cup, FA Cup, and against lowly rated Champions League teams.
Jozy Altidore is a beast in FIFA 13. He's gained a ton of traits for me in career mode: Power Header, Poacher, Clinical Finisher, Complete Forward, and at least one other one I can't think of.
And his shot power has grown to 98.
Oh hey, and he's third in Eredivisie scoring IRL this season.
It's gor-GET - because there are no French people in Westeros.
