vs. 360 comparison?

Are there any yet? I got f---ed on the last two SUDA51 games by preordering on PS3. Shadows of the Damned had poor audio compression, and Lollipop Chainsaw had lack of V-sync during a lot of cutscenes. My instincts tell me the 360 version of Killer Is Dead will run better as well, but since I'd prefer to have it on PS3, I currently have both versions preordered, lol. I don't wanna miss out on any of those goodies, particularly the soundtrack CD, so I'm waiting to hear which version is better (or if the PS3 one is near-identical in performance) before I go opening either up and am hoping I don't gotta wait long. The unused copy I'll just sell.

And if one is already decidedly better than the other, I'd prefer just to cancel one of the preorders if possible. Saves me the hassle.

It's running on Unreal Engine 3 like Shadows and Lollipop, so go for the 360 version. That engine was optimized for the 360 and the PS3 versions of games running on it (Suda's games, the Devil May Cry reboot, Bulletstorm, NeverDead, etc.) tend to lack anti-aliasing, have longer loading times and are rather glitchy with sound/texture streaming.

But Shadows of the Damned was better on PS3. And Lollipop Chainsaw wasn't that bad aside from some screen tearing in some of the cutscenes. Both versions of this game seem to suffer from some nasty screen tearing, though.

So do a lot of games on consoles. Even the some stupidly named AAA titles do. How many people notice and how many care ?

^Imo, unless stated otherwise.

Slightly better graphics and maybe smoother performance, sure, but the audio compression is fecking terrible. I own both and the 360 version is the only one that sounds any good. (It's an EA issue because the PS3 version of Alice: Madness Returns suffers the same problem.)

I'll take sweet Yamaoka sounds and music in high quality over anything else. There really is a world of difference between the two releases, and I'm surprised Eurogamer didn't spot it when they did their face-off, unless for whatever reason European copies weren't affected.

If EA had cared enough to release a patch, that would have been golden.

From Eurogamer's review of the 360 version:

"Although hardly operating at the level of Platinum Games, in Killer is Dead Grasshopper has achieved a decent, mechanically sound action game that could have been lifted above the average with a little more time spent: on the moveset, on more varied and ingenious enemy designs, on levels that didn't belie their outlandish concepts with featureless, repetitive layouts. A little technical polish wouldn't have hurt, either. On Xbox 360, Killer is Dead has some of the worst screen tearing I've ever seen - a constant, ugly shear which ruins the integrity of the otherwise striking visuals."

No face-off with the PS3 version yet. Can anybody say if the PS3 one has a lot of screen tearing?

"We only had the opportunity to play the PS3 version of the game, so I canít speak for the Xbox 360 version, but on PS3 screen-tearing is a near constant issue and an unfortunate eyesore on an otherwise great looking game."
