So, I don't have the game yet but I've heard KbM is really bad and people should just go with a controller. Is this true or can you make KbM work well?

Just a heads up: a lot of controllers will be effectively useless with this game because you can only reconfigure your controls for the keyboard.

What a mess.

Game was designed from the ground up with controller use. Everything from the UI, to the gameplay is designed to use a controller.

So a controller is the only logical choice.

I tried to play it with keyboard + mouse for about 40m and it was extremely frustrating, so I had to go buy a 360 controller. Now it works great and is enjoyable.

What I've worked out.

Right click = heavy attack / rt / +direction jump attack
Left click = attack / rb / while falling plunge attack / +direction kick / behind enemy critical / after parry(Lt) riposte

space = backstep / +direction roll / hold direction run / b
shift = block
tab = parry / Lt
crtl = walk
alt = two/one hand / y

q = action / gesture / a
e = use flask / x
v = right switch
c = left switch
f = item switch
r = magic switch
g = gesture menu
o = target / reset camera

home or end(forgot which) = open menu / >start
enter = accept in menus
backspace = close / b in menus
g = explanation in menus
page up/down = move left / right in menus
insert = does something in menus, forgot
delete = does something in menus, forgot
arrow keys = moves highlight bar in menus

Why would you need to change the controls? They are just fine. Very easy to use. People will complain about anything these days. Im just happy to have this game on PC, and I know many others agree with me. We had to sign a petition just to get it. I didnt expect them to recode the whole game for a few complainers.

I still lol at the console peasant apologists trying to defend a broken mess that the community had use DX hooks to fix.
This isn't some amazingly difficult task, quite obviously. PC is the easiest platform to develop for.
