Check your windows firewall isn't blocking gfwl or dark souls (there may be two entries for the game IIRC).

Also is UPNP enabled?

I have issues too, i've opened all ports, UPnP is enabled, still get summoning failed all the time with very few white signs.

i think there is deeper issues.

I'm having the same problems. The PS3 version works just fine though.

i mean your soul level and the soul level of the other player having trouble. Not your stats.

Trying finding another player close to you and see if you can connect. I'm guessing the pc player base isn't big enough right now to give us console levels of co op compatibility.

Level 87currently, Kentucky, USA.

I've been having this problem from lower levels as well, but I'm at the end of the game and about to start NG+. I see messages a lot, very few signs in the later areas (I wasn't overleveling while going through them but rather sticking to the typical levels that were established on the console versions), but I'd get invaded somewhat infrequently at least. My invasions would fail a lot (when I kept my levels lower for that to work). I switched to Darkmoon which can invade people all the way down to level 1 if they're guilty and haven't beaten the area boss yet, but that has not worked yet at all (but the blue orb kind of crappy on the PS3 too...).

I did see lots of signs and could invade a lot in the Undead Parish through the Depths, but summon signs started being infrequent after Sen's (I was level 30 there), but 90% of summon attempts fail anyway. Red orb invasions worked sometimes at those level ranges as well, but they worked about 90% of the time in the Undead Parish via cracked orbs. I think most new people are stuck there I guess.

I can explain the lack of summon signs and no one to invade with the red orb due to the game being rather new on the PC and my level / progress point so far being most likely ahead of a large portion of the playerbase (I have seen zero signs in the forest, New Londo, the entire path from Queelag's bonfire through Bed of Chaos, Painted World, etc., but I've at least seen a few at Oolacile). However, that does not explain the summoning failing 90% of the time. Again, I have this on the 360 and the PS3, and summoning works just fine on the PS3. I haven't played the 360 version in a while, but even it was better than this after the patches, and I only switched to the PS3 because of the larger community.
