This.

And they're generally of a very high quality. Remember, it's only fairly recently that the over reliance on nostalgia has really become an issue, and it hasn't hit the 3D games at all yet.

They are fun, no matter how unoriginal they are *looks at this game*
However, some, like Mario world and SMB3 are amazing for replaying, but some (like NSMB and NSMB2) are just there to beat and they later take dust.

2D platforming is one of the truest, oldest and most pure forms of gaming there is. You'd have to be born in the late 90s or something to not understand this.

I can understand the appeal of games like this in many ways. What I donīt understand is the appeal of getting in a board of a game you donīt like and creating a topic about it.

Learning why others do like it, maybe?

Then why not just play Super Mario World?

For the same reason people play any sequel. The older games, no matter how good they are, get stale after countless replays. Why did they even bother making Galaxy 2? After all, we could just play Galaxy over and over again.

Ha, casual gamers. Many Mario fans, including myself, have been playing Mario since the 80's. Yes, a lot of it is about nostalgia, but I don't consider myself a casual gamer, and I know many other "hardcore" gamers that enjoy this game.

But then again, if you don't enjoy most Mario games you will not enjoy this one.

The only reason why I play this game, same as any other game in existence, is for fun. I have fun with Mario game and this title is no different.
