So what do you think the final name for this game will be?

I am going to guess the obvious and say "Project Diva Vita"

What do you think they might call it?

Hatsune Miku: Project Diva 3rd

Boring but safe.

Sliced bread is over hyped. I give it a 5.

Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA Next.

Or simply NEXT Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA.

They've generally been really bad with their naming, and anything tentative becomes final without any changes. >_>

Playing: Glitch.
Anticipating: P4G, Nayuta no Kiseki. SEGA! Take my money now, please!

Not really lol, it is kinda its own game (though I remember reading something about it being an extension)... does it require 2nd to play?

Extend uses the same system as 2nd with small tweaks and fixing and inherits all of 2nd's modules and DLCs. There were no huge difference between Extend and 2nd other than the song list. (Whereas the jump between the original and 2nd & 2nd and Next is pretty big.)

If you want an example, SEGA's Phantasy Star Portable 2 and Phantasy Star Portable 2 Infinity. Would you call Infinity the next numbered title in the series, when it's a new story chapter appended to PSPo2 along with system balancing?

Just think of Extend as the Persona 3 FES to 2nd.

I'm pretty sure it'll be following Apple's footsteps in naming their new product.

The new/next Project Diva XD

The pokemon games come to mind lol. same stuff with small tweaks. same goes for call of duty. I can see what you are getting at, but it technically qualifies as its own game. However, you have been correct on more things than me so I will stand down on this one XD
