Yea it's been a pain in the butt watching this team play on a nightly basis. They look very confused at times, and can't keep up with the younger more athletic teams. Now I don't know if any other mavs fans notice this, but WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME WE DIDN'T BLOW A GAME TO THE FREAKIN THUNDER????? I swear to you the last time we beat them was the 2011 WC Finals. It has to be at least 8 games in a row we've had a close game in the 4th qtr, only to blow it in the end. But if I had to put money on this season, I think the Lakers have a much brighter future and will be better contenders for the last playoff spot. Really scratches my head how this team managed to win 60+ games season after season, when their roster sucked with the exception of Dirk lol. Past rosters starting 5 included Dirk, Devin Harris, Josh Howard, Eric Dampier, and Terry. I honestly don't know how that team managed 60 wins in 2006 and 67 in 2007.

The difference between Dirk and other 25 point scorers is he gets you the baskets you NEED, when you need them. Exactly what the guy above me said. It really doesnt matter who plays around Dirk, as long as Dirk is there the Mavs can at least make a playoff spot. Dirk matters that much. he won a title with his 2nd best player being Tyson Chandler and his 3rd being Jason Terry. Neither of these guys are anything magical, there decent nba ballers at best. He didnt need 2-3 prime time players to win it all and he even took down the most hyped heat time of all time, while almost dying from a 100+ degree fever and a broken finger. He also 4-0'ed the lakers, took out the Thunder and beat the heat in miami, and was clutch in every single game (except the 6th where he didnt need to be). Dirk is like a bball god, the larry bird of our generation or the most closest thing to it. The **** he can do is unreal and its rare that you see 1 guy do that much.

All due respect, Tyson Chandler makes any team a good team. He does everything but score, one of the best players in the game. Jason Terry is a gunner in the clutch, Dirk needed those two, great as he is. And don't forget J-Kidd, the guy is a pure winner, look at what he did with Melo and Co. --- "It's the stronger that make the weaker"- Milliardo Peacecraft

Dirk is good and all, I am a fan. I enjoy watching him play, and have since he has been in the L. I remember his first playoff series against the Utah Jazz when I was ten years old. I grew up watching him. BUT That team was built great....you can't belittle his help. Tyson Chandler is far from a "decent" player. he is aggressive and the anchor of the defense. I think they got the sig skill defensive anchor based on him. He made everyone better. He was like a prime Ray Lewis in that series on the defensive in. They put J Kidd on LeBron at certain times during the game during critical moments. That's how much confidence they had in J Kidd. He is a floor general. The best leader in the NBA. Look at what the Knicks are doing since they got him. JET is clutch we know that. He came up huge. Shawn Marion did his thing. Deshawn Stevenson. JJ Barea killed with his quickness. A very good group, with a core that had been together for a while. Yeah, Dirk was the superstar. But what he had around him was very good veterans who mostly all deserved a ring. I was elated to see guys like J Kidd and Peja win a championship in their careers. As far as this season, they aren't going anywhere. I doubt they even finish above .500 The other teams I mentioned are better. --- North Carolina, boorrrrnnnn and raaissseedddd "Ssssssla-va. Med-Va-Den-Ko......."

Chandler is good but he kind of rose to the occasion. He wasnt anyone before that he wasnt a top 5 center like people are talking about today, if anything he was a decent role player at best. Some players are able to do those types of things in the finals they take advantage of the opportunity and they get better from. The finals are a huge morale booster to some players and Chandler was just one of them. J Kidd is good and always has been good except around 09-10 when he started slowing down a bit, but again I think the finals boosted the Mavs confidence a lot after winning. Guys like Burea were nobodies until that game and then that whole roster went on to get paid after winning. They werent anything before it. The Mavs had a lot of trouble over the years trying to get past the Spurs, they had quite a few exits before that. It was very surprising that they went as far as they did, unless you were a Dallas fan almost nobody saw it coming.
You're right in that players played above what they are normally capable of on that Mavericks team, but (for me) I attribute that to Jason Kidd. He is one of maybe three players in the league who makes everyone better on the team, regardless of EVERYTHING. Honestly the only other player like that who comes to mind is Chris Paul. The guy not only understand basketball, but human beings. He knows exactly what to say and do to rile up the guys or settle them down. He is not a basketball player, he is a winner. As far as Tyson goes, I think after he left NOLA he was as good as he was on the Knicks/Mavs, it just took people a while to realize what he does off the court and the kind of leadership and heart he provides while on the court. The guy is a special player; I would take him over Dwight Howard every day of the week. --- "It's the stronger that make the weaker"- Milliardo Peacecraft
