When I heard about a Sony a SSMB, I figured I'd hear a lot of cries of "RIPOFF!"

...... The truth is, Sony isn't the first to create a copy of SSMB's fighting system, nor should they be ashamed about doing so. It's a fun system, and it's great that it's been used for different catalogs of characters.

Just wanted to give some example these kinds of games (Two come to mind):

Dream mix TV (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9T3zKBGGQ8U)

Naruto Ultimate Ninja 1-5 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Klr0DMVvOds)

One Piece Grand Battle 1-2 ((PS1)) (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BFZxUHAZtIs)

Just wanted to put that out there, in case anyone wants to point this out to anyone fanatically crying "RIPOFF!!11!1!"

Have a nice day, doods. :)

a arcade game 1v1 fighter but look at how many items you can pick up, the stages changes so much and theres so much going on ..also the cameras moves out when characters are far away and closes in when they get close.. definately a source of inspiration for smash bros

The two Digimon Rumble Arena games were really fun, though sadly there hasn't been a third one.

Haha, thanks for pointing that out. Yea, I'm pretty sure there's a lot more games out there with pretty much the same build.

it doesn't matter any type of game nintendo makes is always considered the best/orginal of that type of game no matter the reality of the situation. if any body does try to make that type it is going to be considered a rip off of nintendo game of that type.

If only this wasn't true...it's like the whole WoW being "the original" MMO thing...we just gotta deal with it

The new TMNT game and the Cartoon Network Brawl game are alot more similar. Also, Jump Ultimate Stars.

Those two anime games you posted weren't that similar to smash bros...

I blame it on the 90s, where almost everyone WAS trying to Copy Pokemon or Mario 64.

it kinda stuck because of it.

i bet next gen we might see one single developer for each country.. with costs raising so much everyone is forced to unite to survive ..next gen is going to be ugly im scared of it

You can add TMNT smash up and Cartoon Network Punch Time Explosion.

All that being said, I'd really expect something better from a major developer. It's not like this is an obscure japanese only game or something.
