Initially, I was extremely skeptical, and was constantly wishing that they'd just completely cloned smash.

After seeing it in action for months I'm pretty much in love with it. It's not just a point of differentiation, but a legitimately cool mechanic that makes this a very different fighting game.

One of the best things about supers to kill is that it makes FFA matches a lot more competitive. In smash, FFA was for fun/messing around with friends, but in this because it's all about how well you manage your own AP and time your supers, the best player still comes away with the win.

Not really.

You could be the best player but if the other two are terrible, the last one can focus on them and get easy kills. You could do a great job avoiding supers but as long as there are players that don't, they can be abused to win easily. In the beta sometimes I focus on the seemingly worse players and have won matches because of that.

Timed free for alls are still broken in this game.

If the other player gets more kills than you and dies less, then he simply outplayed you. That's just how multiplayer works.
