He's pretty much one of the most popular Playstation characters right now, so he's pretty much this game's Mario. Nathan Drake would probably be the Link, and Sackboy is the Pikachu, in terms of relative popularity.

Because he's a very popular, recognizable character. Personally, I would've gone with Sackboy, now that I think about it, but Kratos is a good choice, too.

For some reason a lot of people dislike LBP though, and a lot of 'casual' players are more aware of the God of War series.
