Then either smashes or tilts are the same as directional attacks?
I always treated them as the same thing..
Unless you're saying that SSB doesn't actually have directional attacks..
Seems like such a strange and pointless technicality..

No. They aren't the same thing. Allow me to clear up the mystery.

Tilt attacks are completely different from Smash attacks.

Smash attacks are executed either with the c-stick or by pressing A and a direction at the exact same time. To do tilt attacks you TILT the analog stick, you don't slam it down. So if I tilt the stick slightly forward plus the A button, a completely different attack to forward Smash will come out.

So in short TC was right. Smash has tilts, this doesn't. No matter how you press the direction, only 1 type of attack will come out.

I have played SSB, I know that Smash attacks and tilts are different things.
It's still a directional attack, the direction affects the attack you do..

I agreed with you. Common sense is lacking on this board LMAO. Ah well, the hype is dead for this game anyway. Very well may be DOA. I'll take smash ty.

3: PSASBR has 1 jump button, Smash has 3 (??????)

You can almost completely customize your button mapping in Brawl. So it has many jump buttons or as few as you wish.

Also you can jump by tapping the analog stick up. But most competitive players turn this off because it makes it harder to do up tilts without accidentally jumping.

Yes but the difference is in PSASBR no matter how you input the direction, whether you slam it or tilt it, the same move will come out.

Forward square will always be 1 move.
In Smash forward A can be forward smash or forward tilt, 2 moves.

That's the point TC was trying to make.

I kind of wish this had tilts but I guess Superbot thought even something simple to learn like that was too big of an entrance learning curve.

I dont think the hype for this game will be dead...yet. I think what will make this game dead is killing system. Just using supers to kill opponents is kinda dumb. In ssbb, there are more than one ways to kill an opponent.

I know, I'm just point out how blind an argument it is, sarcasm or otherwise. It's a blind argument just for the sake of arguing.
