Hah. Apparently, I struck a sensitive chord in you. Well you see, the point of that foolish post is for people to see the absurdity of overly comparing these two games. To the most specific or in this case the most trivial of reasons. Too subtle? --- You are not worthy of its POWER
Throw me when I have 0% damage and see if I get back on the map with any character in any SSB game. Play me without using any combos because there's no use for them, rather, just kick me out with single hits.
If he just said that in a FFA match, you could potentially play lame in a stock mode and get away with it if some how no one else in the match caught on and let you just shoot projectiles or something all match, ok. Everything else in the post is wrong.
Play on a stage like the Mario Bros. one or 75m where you'll die if you barely walk off screen. --- Ninten/Giygas/Porky/Masked Man_Ridley_Black Shadow_Little Mac_Animal Crosser_Toad/Bowser Jr._Mega Man_Mewtwo_Palutena and Terra FOR SMASH! / = Either one

N64 and melee smash were in general combo focused. Also N64 rewarded offense far more then defense. Putting your shield up in most situations was the same as trying to commit suicide. Also saying that combos as a whole were unintentional in smash is wrong or else they would not have had so much hit stun on moves that setup for combos or add ways to cancel or reduce lag after air attacks. Brawl is the only game that went out of it's way to not have combos and some still exist just usually in weird and odd situations. Please know what you are talking about before you make statements. --- In the end the most important things are the basics.
See I disagree completely. The fact that you can do that in Smash makes it more versatile. You can be aggressive, passive, normal, counter, literally a runner, a manipulator, etc. In All stars you only have one choice. Get AP and then super. It kills the whole system of party fighter and real fighter to need a super just to kill someone.
Maybe if it wasn't the case that one of those strategies dominates every 4-player mode (Runaway for Stock FFA and Poacher for Time FFA). Running away is obviously dominant in stock, nothing really needs to be explained there (the less damage you take, the longer you'll survive, and thus the more likely you are to win). In Time, Poaching is dominant because you get all of the reward with none of the work, and this also helps you stay alive longer since you don't have to duke it out as much.
PSAS handles the offense / defense tradeoff much better than Smash, because you don't have a single strategy that affords both. In Time FFA, there's some incentive to stay alive as well, because getting killed a lot costs you points. But since you can't just poach, you either have to tolerate slow meter gain from far away or get in there and put yourself at risk to build meter.
People that say Smash has no depth are equally dumb as those that say PSASBR has no depth .
This is something we definitely agree upon. --- http://terosclassicgaming.blogspot.com/ - Watch me beat "GEN Alien Soldier" http://www.backloggery.com/tero - My backloggery
