And you have to take into account they made each character from scratch on a limited budget.

Yeps. Kratos was a character created for this game. A completely new character...

But most of those games were released over 15 years ago.

And they cost less money to make.

And the tools were less sophisticated. Teams were also smaller.

Yeah, and MK 9, which pretty much reboot the series, and included just about every MK character worth mentioning, only had 7 more characters than this. It was the 9th game in the series, and it didn't even add a single new character to the game/series (save for DLC).

And vanilla Street Fighter IV had LESS playable characters than this game does.

And let's be honest here, how many of them are shoto clones? Ryu, Ken, Akuma, Gouken, Sakura, Dan, Sagat... MK doesn't fare much better, either. And SSB has clones of clones.

If people want to compare roster sizes, compare it to actual rosters, and in context. Yes, some games have huge rosters compared to this game. Some games have done amazing things (like, I don't know, completely jump-started the fighting game resurgence?) with a smaller roster.

Roster SIZE has little to do with anything. Roster STRENGTH is important. And this game, to me, has a very strong roster, who is quite varied.

sfxt 25+ new characters
mk9 22+
so basing it off other 3d fighters it has the least amount of fighters
stop using sprite based fighters as a defense on its small roster

compared to every other 3d game its actually not bad

We're talking about the fact that its the first game in the series

Those games aren't the first games in their respective series

Marvel vs. Capcom. I hope this game isn't too obscure.

Yeah, but Smash was released in '99.
Sony Smash can take advantage of all new technology, and there is no excuse for them to have only 20 characters in today's tech.

Sure, SSB might of came out 15 years ago, but it is leagues better than this piece of S***.
