20 playable characters in the first game is not enough? LOL

I believe the issue is that most of the chars in PSABR are not the characters people actually wanted, especially crap like that cat character and all the stupid shooter game characters. We are missing Snake, any FF representation, any AC representation, and so on and so forth. Of course now that DLC has been confirmed to be coming the point is moot.

Those mentioned games are very old, they range from 20 to 12 year old games
Not to mention they all had limited memory to add more characters, SSB was going to have at least 16 or more, b ut the N64 couldnt fit them in

Now days there are tons of more characters to put in and lack of memory isnt present like in the past, even more if the game is called All Stars, meaning you can add people from different series, 20 is not acceptable by todays standards, maybe it was 10 years ago
But not here, and not with a multi series game

20 is perfectly acceptable when the devs make their playstyles all completely unique and interesting.

Twenty was a perfectly fine number when it's a brand new game. Even BlazBlue with twelve (I think?) felt nice. Considering more characters are on the way via DLC, there's really nothing to complain about.

Character count doesn't mean jack if the characters are bland. If the count was all that mattered, DBZ Tenkaichi 3 would be the best fighting game in history. It had over 150 freaking characters!

This game plays it safe by going with a low character count but making the characters deeper. The more characters you add, the less you can develop them. Some characters are clearly not perfectly balanced but they did a great job for the first game.

So, you'd be happy with 20 Coles as long as they play differently?

BlazBlue isn't a crossover game.

Besides, I have literally never heard of Smash, ever, until I saw people complaining about how this game was similar to Smash.

First BlazBlue was 12.
But still, you can't compare the work between the BB or Persona characters. They are fully hand drawn characters and takes a lot of time.

I think 20 is OK. Would have been better with 24 at start, but anyway.
