I don't want to say I told you so but the game flopped because of SuperBot

I would actually be curious to see the sales data for this game. Has it been posted yet?

It debuted at number 38th on the UK charts. Here's a quote from Eurogamer:

Other new releases fared less well. Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two FLOPPED into the chart in 34th place, ahead of Activision's Family Guy: Back to the Multiverse in 35th.

Lower still was Sony's Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale, placed in 38th.

No, there is a website ranking the top 40 UK games using pre-order sales from retail stores only as their defining metric of where this game lies in the pack, and they placed it at 38 out of 40, without supplying any data, and hiding behind some pretty bogus metrics.

Apparently this means the game is completely doomed, and anyone who doesn't realize this is in denial. At least, according to lumi.

The worst thing is that this could have been avoided if SuperBot took feedback from the fans. We are the consumers, we know best.

I agree.

This is why I hate developers who listen to themselves only or make "their dream game."

They should ALWAYS make games around the consumers wants, not their needs. This game is proof of that.

If i go into the Game Industry I will only make games based on Fan feedback.

I don't think it's preorders. Here's the methodology:

The methodology used across all Chart-Track's services is continuous quantitative retail research. Chart-Track reports are based on over-the-counter retail sales where the data is captured electronically each day from retailers' EPoS systems. Reports are generated using an Oracle relational database, integrated with a custom-built PC-based processing system.

Clients receive a broad range of statistical information from our standard and customised services, enabling them to track market size, market trends and product sales through retail. Data is disseminated to clients on a daily basis, and our monthly, quarterly and annual reports provide invaluable information about longer term sales trends and opportunities.

Not according just to me:

Yes. Who do you think knows better than us, gamers that have been gaming on the PS systems for years, what we want from a game that celebrates the history of PS?

Except you're a parasite, not a consumer though.

This. Lumi, go away. I'm not even active in these boards and you annoy me. Let us have our fun with the game.

We are consumers. They must make games based on the majority's needs. That is what Superbot failed at.

If Superbot took the following steps, the game would've soared off.

#1: Follow the trends. While the Super Kill system was unique, that is something that hurt the games sales so it would've been better to give the game a ring-out system to please the fanbase.

#2: Only pick obvious/popular first party choices. Smash brothers would of sold A LOT more than it already has if it didn't have Game&Watch, ROB, and Ice Climbers. This game has Fat Princess and Evil Cole and to the average western consumer, Toro who seem like weak choices to them.

#3: They should of fought harder to get Crash, Snake, and Cloud. They basically went the cowards way and didn't try at all.

#4: Heavily advertise the game.

#5: Make it PS3 exclusive. Don't do a Vita port of the game.

#6: Get rid of any of the cartoony characters. It makes the game look like a joke.

#7: One graphic style instead of a mesh of multiple styles.

That is how this game would of sold well but no, they decided it was better to "follow their visions." and look now.

There's a chance Sony will try again eventually. It would just likely be a very different product with a completely different dev team.
