Would this game be more or less popular if it played exactly like Smash Bros.?

It would have gotten a boost in sales no doubt. People hate different because it means they have to invest in a new system and mechanics.

Oh dear GOD don't remind me of that nightmare. The one good thing about that game wasn't the gameplay... it was Captain Planet.

Not with me. The only reason I got it was BECAUSE it was exactly the opposite of Smash Bros in terms of gameplay.

CP was the only good point of that game aside from one other thing: how are you forgetting that the Story Mode was narrated by George Lowe/Space Ghost? How does that not give it even a few extra bonus points?
