I've had the game beaten with almost every character except for 3. One of which was Ratchet, who's story I just decided to finish up. Having previously played all the other stories, always on the hardest difficulty, I basically memorized everything Polygon Man says during the fight. However, during this playthrough, his intro and ending sequence dialogue was different than anything I'd heard him say before. Every time I've played, his intro was "Power is an illusion. Absolute power is a seamless illusion." The ending was "How could this happen? None have beaten me until now!"
The new intro showed him saying something along the lines of "This is a role playing game and you will be playing the pinata." The ending had him say something like "You think this is over? You haven't finished me off yet!" Yet he proceeded to explode and the game ended just the way it had every time before. Is this common dialogue? I didn't change the difficulty or anything.
The only thing that was different about this particular fight was that during the last time I had to beat the crap out of his head, I picked up an item that happened to have spawned before he attacked (that laser gun). I hit him with it, ditched it, then had enough AP to finish him off using my level 1 super. I didn't even think it would actually kill him but it worked. If his ending dialogue changed because of THAT I'd understand, but that still wouldn't explain why it was different at the beginning of the fight. Maybe there was some prerequisite?
