VGchartz is not an accurate source. I and others told you all to wait for more reliable numbers instead of assuming they were real. Honestly, I was kind of expecting this because the VG numbers seemed way too high.
Granted the guy posting NPD numbers on Neogaf could also be making them up but that's unlikely because I'm fairly certain it's the same guy who does it every month or so. Also what agenda could he possibly have to lie specifically only about All Stars if he's been largely accurate in the past?
I'm not saying he's 100% accurate but given his history, he's certainly a more reliable source than VGchartz. Of course, we have to account for digital sales as well.
Anyway this game always had an uphill battle to climb:
1. Most hightly requested characters missing. 2. Almost zero advertising. 3. Super battle system turning off countless people that don't understand it.
Just a few reasons but there are likely more.

Meh, we've seen SO many new IPs come into this gen and die this gen. So many great IPs too, gamers just don't want to risk paying money for something new. Which is why all we get is sequel after sequel of CoD, Assassins Creed ect.
