Are Nariko's Square attacks useless?

The hat isn't in a straight line most of the time so deflecting it is futile.

nariko is my main and I'll be quick to say she is garbage, half of her commands set her and whoever she is attacking up for a double kill in ffa, level 1 basically tells the other player to get out of the way. The level 2 is laughable, level 3 is very easy to avoid unless you're terrible at this game.

Nariko's Ap gain needs to be adjust, the opening attacks from square related combos need a increase by the time you can cancel and the end of the string needs a decrease to make up for this.

As it stands the only real way to good with Nariko is to spam bazooka fire and short hop disc all day. The combos themselves are far too dangerous to herself.


Outside of laughable supers, Nariko's biggest problem comes from her ability to cancel. Anything you do outside of a dodge cancel will get beaten out by a smart player. Her down triangle is pretty pointless since unless you level 2 your opponent could block or throw you on reaction.

I do well with Nariko but its one hell of a uphill battle.

This is absolutely correct, and it's the reason I dropped her for Sweet Tooth. Nariko is just Kratos but worse in every way, and as you said she's most effective at zoning which a handful of characters do better than her anyway.
