A list of characters that take skill

Characters that take skill

PaRappa - he is a combo centric character that has short range, therefore he needs proper planning to use correctly.

Fat Princess - she has a very different playstyle that revolves heavily around her air game. You cannot simply pick her and do well, you need to practice.

Radec - hes fairly baseline, hes not too easy or too hard to use, but using his level 1 correctly can be the difference between winning and losing. he also has some nice wall bounce combos that require skill.

Cole + Evil Cole - both of these characters are heavily combo centric for building meter. some of their supers take skill especially the level 1 which requires fast timing and close range, and require semi complex setups except in evil cole's case. the giga punch is overpowered, but other than that they both take a good amount of skill.

Jak - kindve like radec, easy and not easy at the same time. while his moveset is piss easy, nailing his lvl1 and 2 supers does require a bit of thought as they cant be set up in any reliable means and their hitboxes are different than most characters. a newbie would find them difficult, so ill say ultimately hes a bit harder, but his moveset is quite easy to figure out. he just plays a basic cat-and-mouse game.

Big Daddy - he is combo centric. while most big daddys dont know how to use him and simply spam super armor charges and ground pound, he has a lot of good combos that follow up on his other moves, and make him pretty tough to deal with, but most players cant make proper usage of him without spamming his ground pound.

Dante - everything about him is difficult. hes by far the most difficult in the game. his meter gain depends solely on how skilled you are. hes likely the first character you had to use youtube on, just to figure out how to set up his level 1 super.

Characters that take little to no skill

Kratos - hes prettymuch the cookie cutter noob character of this game. On his A game, you are doing very simple cookie cutter combos. He does not have any super setups really, and the few he has are unreliable and half luck based. it is not possible to suck at playing Kratos. one can do decently just spamming square attacks, and doing level 3s all game.

Sweet Tooth - another easy character to play. Simply google searching, youll find that he can just short hop and spam square and do his level 1s which are easy to get. most of his attacks cause knockback and give a lot of meter, so he isnt combo centric and pretty simplistic. single attacks, aerial squares and lvl1.

Sly - single attacks and no combos, no special setups to worry about, hes pretty simple. mashing counter attacks and single target attacks and hitting blind supers is all you do really. very shallow character but fun.

Nathan Drake - he has combos but theyre by far the most casual of the bunch. throw barrels run and gun, and use supers. most of his setups are simplistic like up throw into level 2..doesnt get any easier.

Ratchet - too easy, he simply does a 1v1 game of isolating people and doing long ranged attacks and then forcing a lot of rolling ejects on them which makes his supers very easy to do. any combos he does have are simple 2-4 hit combos that are very easy to do.

Heihachi - while he does have some combos that can take practice, his basic premise is too simplstic, and his setups for supers are newbie level. his level 2 is one of the strongest and is set it and forget it, and his level 1 is comboed into as simple as only Raiden. He builds so much meter that even multiple failed attempts usually result in an average game.

Nariko - shes easy. she just sucks.

Raiden - Like Kratos, Heihachi, and Sweet Tooth, this character personifies easy. His moveset is completely unfair and broken to the point where he just feels like theres no sense in playing him at all.

Really, the Coles take skill and Heihachi doesn't? Admit it TC, this is a list of characters you use and characters you lose to.

Ratchet takes special zoning and his moves all have considerable lag. You have to use all of his tools to be effective instead of spamming one thing. The vacuum is slow and easy to avoid and his level 1 takes a good read and timing. His combos also take juggling vs mashing buttons.

Parappa is beginner friendly and has great supers (one that's guaranteed) and can camp and give free AP to him and his teammates.

Fattie P has soldiers that do big stun allowing her an easier combo into super than anybody else.

This list is way off. This isn't a "my favorite character vs the ones I hate" thread.

Characters that take skill

Spike - he has various ways to set up his level 1 super, but none of them are totally reliable and require them to be used in conjunction, and his moves are easy to pull off, but difficult to master. he does have some combos that require quite a bit of practice. hes about mid-range in difficulty, not necessarily as challenging as others on this list. hes not even remotely close to as hard as dante or the coles are.

Characters that take no skill

Sackboy - he is sort of inbetween, he does take some skill to land his level 1 as well as the keepaway game with fairly mediocre melee skills, but not much due to his simplistic combos and how powerful his supers are.

Sir Dan - his axe is overpowered. he can only do supers to people he juggles making it very simplistic to set his level 1 super up. theres really no required setup for his level 2, just to have someone above your head. he doesnt have any real depth to him, he feels pretty hack and slash. the main differentiation between your sir dan and someone else's would solely be at how well you do things outside of the character such as positioning, but the character itself is pretty easy.

Toro - piss easy. while some might say Whaat? you have to do all of these combos and swap between forms! not really. you can just spam dive kicks and up square, throw ninja stars and do kratos-like grabs that require no effort, or you can simply do single target karate attacks for high ap. i dont find him particularly difficult. his supers have a lot of range and room for error. his moves are simplistic in nature. you can look for depth, but hes pretty easy as is.
