The community gives harsh criticism because they WANT the game to be good. Any so-called "gamer" won't simply push aside every apparent flaw in a game just because a "true gamer" should be able to enjoy everything. That thought process is, in a word, stupid.
SuperBot did not do enough with this game. If this was the total output that SuperBot was able to muster with the resources available, this game should have never seen the light of day, and this release is a mistake. The menu design and overall infrastructure in the online mode is severely lacking, and a lazily strewn together offline mode is inexcusable. I feel like SuperBot did not put enough drive into this project, regardless of how "passionate" they claimed to have been... This doesn't look like a passionate effort on their part. It looks like a quick cash-in downloadable game that would sell for $20 on PSN.

On superbot lacking "passion", I've always thought of Omar didn't seem very passionate about the game. He was determined to get the job done, yes, but I never got the passionate flare off him that I get off David Chaffe, Kojima, the Houser Bros, etc.
