What happend, were they petty and unnessisary conflict like most or like drake/sly which actually linked to their arcade stories?

Came back hoping someone would bring this up.

Honestly I think this is the most well done rivalry, it actually feels like a real misunderstanding, rather then just one of them being super aggro and OOC (most triumphant examples: Little Sister, Cole, Jak and Spike).

This, none of them know anything about them actually. Either one of them believes the other one is evil or will use their power for evil in the future. Still, their rivalship makes not much sense as it is seen more as a "western design vs japanese design" contrast thing.

But the philosophies they talk about... do seem to fit well.
