Player names in local games

Anyone else wished we could create "accounts" with our name and separate character level for other people who play with us locally?

I play with friends over here, 2v2 online or with 3 other players offline and I liked that function in all SSB games... Am I missing something or is it really impossible to have different accounts on the same ps3?
