Is there rubberbanding?

I'm finding this game EXTREMELY hard, and only winning races in the world tour race mode based on luck.

I know in the first game, you could turn off rubberbanding AI racers, but in this game I see no such option.

Is rubberbanding gone or is there simply no option to turn it off anymore?

Latter, you're stuck with them burying their nose in your exhaust pipe.

God this sucks. I may go back to playing the first game for a while... I don't have the patience for how hard the game is... I really wanted to love it though.

I dunno, I've had races where I'd be over 10 seconds ahead of the AI.

Play on easy and learn the tracks inside out, then try a harder difficulty.

I'm definitely not giving up on the game. But after practicing on the first stage for a long time and still usually not winning, I need to take a break.

I got couple tracks with at least a minute ahead of AI, both of them were airplane heavily-based. I see why there are very few tracks that using plane form, glad that Boat part is most challenge.

Only around the 3rd position its not Mario Kart terrible or even that obvious but its there. It can let off when you swing pass 1st place. Everyone strange cut down the cheapness to a level thats abit more managable.

No formal rubberbanding from what I can tell (if there was rubberbanding then you wouldn't have massive victories on easier modes). On harder difficulties the AI singles you out with nearly all pickups and they also have immensely amplified speed; race perfect, dodge all obstacles, and somehow avoid/counter all of their fire or you lose.

That's quite pain in the rear, yea.
