These are my hopes for the next game, listed in order of importance, from most to least:
-Mario Kart: Double Dash two-rider system!
...Let me ride on the back of my friend's kart and aim all of his weapons and stuff! This game would be so much fun if you could do stuff like that. Plus, the game already has a sort of dual-player system, with Beat and Gum, AiAi and MeMe, Ulala and Pudding, and even Eggman and Shadow! Plus, maybe the rider could even hop over and steal other drivers' karts, wrecking them! This attack would be really, REALLY hard to aim, though. Just an idea.
-Less driving, more racing!
...The current tracks require way too much driving. Mario Kart has perfect tracks that focus mainly on racing against the other characters instead of on navigating the track without wrecking. Sonic Racing needs to follow that track model, or at least incorporate some of its ingredients. Often, the track will be the reason I lose the race, not the other races. That stupid Billy Hatcher track's final corner is a perfect example of this.
...Why can't we have like 50 or 100 characters? The characters don't play that differently, so Sumo would just have to make the models and karts for every character, slightly different stats for them, and BAM, they'd have a character roster that covers the entire screen, and one heck of a potential marketing campaign.
-Less re-skinned characters!
...Why do we have Beat and Gum? Ulala and Pudding? AiAi and MeMe? Especially when no one likes monkeys. Just saying. Why was Big the Cat removed from the game to make room for a female re-skin of AiAi?
-Better, more memorable weapons!
...A blowfish? Really? What the heck does that have to do with Sonic or Sega? Ask anyone who plays this game to list the weapons. They'll be like, "Uh... well, there's the, uh... the blowfish..... and uh... the twister.... and that one thing..." Then ask them to list Mario Kart's weapons. Easy, isn't it?
...The AI in this game is ridiculous. I'm really good at video games, and this was the hardest and most frustrating video game I've ever played. It's beatable, but only if you're really patient and REALLY good. Just soften the AI please.
What are your thoughts? Do you agree or disagree? Why?
I strongly disagree with number 2. Without track difficulty there would be no skill involved.
The tracks can have some level of difficulty, but not to the level that's in this game. If you slightly mess up that turn at the end of the Billy Hatcher track, you lose the race. If you go a bit too fast off the Golden Axe jump, you hit the snake's mouth and lose the race. The tracks don't have to be too easy, but they're cheap sometimes.
Remove the Boost from Time Trials. It just makes getting good times even more painstaking, because if you mess up during a lap after you've used your boost, you have to complete that lap to get the boost back, then you have to complete another lap to use the boost at the end of the lap to get the boost of speed at the beginning of the next lap.
So just remove the boost, and any time a player starts or restarts the track, just put them back a bit from the starting line, so they can get enough speed. This way, I don't have to do two more laps every time I mess up just to be on a level playing field.
You can't have #3 without #4. That is just impossible.
Also, why mention AiAi/Meemee but not something like Sonic/Shadow/Metal Sonic?
Lol @ wanting Big the Cat back too.
Otherwise yeah, I agree with most of what you said.
Metal Sonic technically isn't really in the game, as he's a "DLC" character (although he's on-disc).
Sonic is so much different than Shadow, and has been a major character in the Sonic games for a while. Also, his voice is awesome. He may have the same shape as Sonic, but they look, sound, feel, and play differently.
1: No thank you, I played Double Dash version and it was godly horrible. Btw, can you do double player on the motorcycle? Nope I don't think so.
2: Agreed, need more flexible on the track branch, we are not children anymore - it's Xbox 360 for crying out loudly! If you wanna soup-feeding us, put them in Wii/Wii U, k? Just give us a better track difficult and less A.I. difficult.
3: Indeed, where's my Blaze the Cat? Where's Ron? Y u hold Alex out until Christmas? Screw you!
4: Indeed, Smash Bros had this issues and you didn't learn a lesson or two from it? No clones allowed, Mario and Luigi are complete different by Brawl right now, but indeed Ganondorf was complete clone of Captain Falcon but not anymore in the Brawl. AiAi's girl can just stay in her ball and being AiAi's all-star aids, not other damn racer.
5: Indeed, Blowfish has nothing to do with Sonic and last time I checked, it's Banjo-Kazooie enemy in "Banjo-Tooie" game; Jolly Roger's Lagoon, yes?
6: Agreed, no need to have them target on Human player for 100% of the times on the track. Brawl had done that badly and you're copying that damn part? That don't making sense... Why have them pounding the poop out of us if you just wanna going first? Just punch the leading racer out instead of just us! If I am third placed in the track and you're second placed, yet you still shoot at me? Nope, smacking the first placer out of your face, dammit! --- I used to be hearing person like you, until I took the fever in my ears. ~FredCat
