With the exception of "host disadvantage" on MW3, lag issues are actually pretty fair and balanced. People don't realize the "that's not what I saw" issue also happens to the people they kill, except you don't get a "Death Cam" for you to notice when you get a kill.

Plus the complaints from me don't come after one kill, but after a pattern emerges in a game. You can go 30-8 one game, then switch lobbies and start 2-11. Sure, the competition is probably better, but you can 100% tell the difference in how long it's taking you to kill someone between the two matches. Your connection to the host has changed dramatically.
This sums it up. You don't suddenly go from pawning to getting scrubbed that bad because of mere skill.
My main problem is that as soon as I turn a corner and see an enemy, in less than 0.2 seconds, I'm dead on the ground. I look at the killcam, and they've had me in there sights for 1.2 seconds, filling me with lead the whole time.
Yes "lag compensation," although I'm not sure that's the whole reason or the technical name for it, is real. It's a problem with all online shooters as far as I know, and it's a hard problem to fix.
