I think Game of the Year may go to Assassin's Creed 3 this year, game is looking incredible..

By that logic Modern Warfare 3 was GOTY 2011, and I dont want to live on this planet anymore...

Anyway, it warrants a nomination by the looks of things, enough change in setting and themes, along with new ideas and a sense of being a game on its own (we all know MW3 was a copy paste MW2)

Id be betting on it winning shooter of the year, narrowly beating Halo 4, and possibly best multiplayer. AC3 gets my bet on being the best big budget game of 2012.

The fact that over 25% of people said yes is 1 of the reasons why people hate CoD. There's no way CoD will win GotY for a while.
