Call of Duty: Black Ops II
You don't realize how bad the lag comp is until you've had Ghost on for hours.

It doesn't help that all of the maps are CQC oriented too. --- Ryyaann is banned. http://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/VanillaRice-1752/hero/337193
From: Joshie_x | #008 This is exactly my experience as well. From: Mr_Cumberdale | #009 Same here. This lag comp is honestly making this game unplayable. :( Interesting to see that people have the same experience. --- Ryyaann is banned. http://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/VanillaRice-1752/hero/337193
Wow do I feel noob. Thought you could only use your prestige gift on a weapon lol. As far as the lag its obvious and we all know it by now. Solution...go play hardcore till they fix it. --- GamerTag - YELARAKA (LeAdEr Of Da ReDsKrEeN kLaN) My FaN kLuB - GameCheat, JasmineMagee, &.Gaybor
Ryyaann_Is_Band posted... From: Joshie_x | #008This is exactly my experience as well. Yeah, pretty much my experience too. In CoD4 to BO I felt I had some measure of control over the outcome of a gunfight, but in MW3 and BO2 it's just random no matter how well I or the other guy shoot or how fast we react. --- GT- Haelion W Justice League Member: Bernie Mac
Yeah, the lag (or lag comp, I can't really tell at this point) is ridiculous in this game. As I've stated many times, there have been quite a few occasions where I'm waiting for a guy to pop around the corner because I know he's sprinting after me like a mindless idiot. I shoot him the instant I see him start to pop up. No hitmarkers, but an insta-death. In the kill cam I never shoot. I also mentioned that one time where I just dropped dead for the final killcam of the game. I had assumed it was a sniper, but in the killcam, some guy fired 4 bursts into me and I just stood there, but on my screen nothing happened except just falling over dead. --- MKSC: 27 WR's :: SC World Champion SMB3 GBA: 21 WR's
ITT: People with next to no knowledge on how networking works, video-games are programming, or online gaming works continue to blame every single death on something other than themselves. I'm not trying to say that the network coding in this game is perfect or even particularly good, because it isn't. You will get killed by lag from time to time, but these people who act like the game is conspiring against them for every kill need to realize that sometimes they just lost that gun-battle because of ****-luck not on lag. Most people here learned about how lag compensation works from Youtube videos made by pissed off Call of Duty fans who desperately needed to validate every death they took. They put up videos from the Black Ops theater (which was LAUGHABLY bad and glitchy to begin with) and pointed at them and said "LOOK!!!! IT'S LAG COMPENSATION!!!! OMG ITS A CONSPIRACY AGAINST ME!!!!" Without realizing that it was just the fact that the theater sucked to begin with. I got bad news for all the "lag compensation" people out there, the software is pretty standard. Some variation of it is used in basically every P2P shooter (read: console shooter) there is. As soon as the technology got powerful enough, they used variations of it for games like Counter-strike:Source, Team Fortress 2, and every Halo and Battlefield game that has come out since the 360 has been around. The networking in this game is fairly middle of the road. It isn't particularly good, but it isn't particularly bad either. The problem is, everyone thinks their observations that the game is conspiring to give other people a tenth of a second jump on them is somehow proof that the exact same santardized lag compensation that has appeared in every shooter in the last half decade is suddenly sentient and holding them back. It couldn't possibly be their brains desperate attempt to validate the video-game egos that make this board a wasteland. Lag is going to kill you - repeatedly, and at the worst possible times - but such as it has been with every online shooter since Quake, and such as it will continue to be in every online shooter in the immediate future. Lag is as much a part of Black Ops 2, as it is a part of Battlefield 3. Host advantage you might be able to convince me of, but Lag Compensation is such a standard piece of software now, that it is totally inane to blame anything on it, because every game company on earth probably licenses the technology from the same people. --- 84% of people make up their statistics. Well that was a very long way to say "Lag exists in every shooter" Thanks for the input, but I'm quite sure everyone knows that already. --- Ryyaann_Is_Band is warned. http://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/VanillaRice-1752/hero/337193

From: vigorm0rtis | #018 Then why don't they shut up already? Because Lag and Lag Compensation are two very different things --- Ryyaann_Is_Band is warned. http://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/VanillaRice-1752/hero/337193
Just because lag compensation is apparently "in every online shooter" doesn't mean it can't be better or worse than a different game. And that's what we are complaining about - the lag compensation in Black Ops II is a lot worse than lag compensation in say, Counter-Strike. --- 2012 New York Giants: 6-4 Next: Bye |
