Honestly anyone proud of their white slaveowner heritage is pretty despicable. --- oh yeah. i am a dog. i smoke cigarettes and vote democratic because i am classy - the dog http://i.imgur.com/x4Tma.jpg
No, it is a symbol of southern pride for some people. They don't equate it to slavery
Swastika is a symbol of eternity and good luck. They don't equate it it genocide or Hitler. --- "This is the work of Dalang. His skill makes us believe that we see a war between two great armies, but there is no war. There is only the Dalang."
Honestly anyone proud of their white slaveowner heritage is pretty despicable.
Times were a lot different a couple hundred years ago. There might be norms in our society right now that 200 years from now are looked down on as despicable and you'll have someone saying they should be ashamed of you. --- http://i.imgur.com/34Fj8.jpg http://i.imgur.com/ZGQLw.jpg

sorry but slavery is not morally acceptable in any time period. Not in colonial America, not in Rome, never --- oh yeah. i am a dog. i smoke cigarettes and vote democratic because i am classy - the dog http://i.imgur.com/x4Tma.jpg
I can see both sides here (despite being from, uh, Massachusetts)... my opinions on things where I can do that tend to fall more conservatively, though the more open side tends to win out.
Basically, I'd say go ahead with reporting them, but there's no guarantee that anything will be done due to the flag's status as "heritage", "pride", and such - things that are still true, as the flag was never -fully- synonymous with "condoning slavery". To again bring up the swastika, the swastika flag was a direct emblem of the Nazi Party - it was part and parcel of their government and their oppression. The Confederate flag has found some other uses, but they remain rather gray in a land that favors black and white. --- ...as opposed to an average game.
We elected an abolitionist president, so some states decided it was time to secede, since slavery was such an important part of their economic systems. During the election they were threatening to do so. This election was a pretty big deal, since it was when the Republican Party formed.
The American Civil War really was started because of slavery. That was the sole reason. Of course, that's kind of embarassing today, but instead of trying to forget the whole thing, some people just make up crap about it. Actually, even back then the slavers gave this same BS about how they were standing up to the big evil empire, and that they were starting a war on principle.
Some people should try reading a history book that wasn't written by Glenn Beck.
Every time I see that flag, I think of slavery. If you think of something else when you see it, you're being delusional. --- http://i31.tinypic.com/2aerpu8.jpg http://i38.tinypic.com/29mwpok.jpg
