People in America would be butthurt because we are propagandized that we are the grand saints of the world and would never do anything evil. People would complain for the sake of complaining. Just to hear the sound of their own voice.
We decimated Hiroshima, and people still think we are the good guys. I think we are a-holes for that, but others may disagree. Some actions by the U.S. shocks me on how people just brush it off, but if its any other country we go apes*** about how they are evil and should be punished. Just my $0.02
Firebombing Tokyo was fairly devastating and painful when compared to dropping 2 nukes. It was that or have many US soldiers die and many Japanese civilians and soldiers die. Japanese people were quite keen on Bushido and would not surrender which they thankfully did after Nagasaki. (atomic death toll is at 246k max, firebombing of just one was over 100k w/ millions injured)
Whether it was right or wrong it ended the war and spared the rest of Japan and US soldiers. We are not good nor are we evil. Amoral would be a far better descriptor. I think we involve ourselves with other countries too much sometimes. Trade and commercialism is fine, but foreign aid and starting wars should be sparse and only used when necessary.
Also, fun fact WMD is a general term that is not limited to nuclear devices.
