I used to think that headsets are a waste of money. That using my standard wireless 360 mic was just fine and honestly it was, until microsoft put out that piece of crap mic/bluetooth mic.
and i also got a set of Turtle Beaches as a gift awhile back, i couldn't use them on multiplayer games at first but loved them with Rage, New Vegas, Deus Ex, etc
I eventually got used to the headset and playing multiplayer games too; but unfortunately, my cable is damaged to the point my right audio has given out. This clearly annoys me, so i am going to give my headset as a back up mic to my cousin and am looking for a new headset.
I have heard great things about Trittons and my past experience with a Turtle Beach headset was great, so either or i guess. This is what i am looking for though:
*Good-Great sound (not looking to sound whore, but would love a great audio experience with my single player games) 7.1 surround would be great, but i am not 100% sure that most games even meet that
*Not sure if i should go for wireless or wired, i generally like wired as it is a little more reliable, but considering the last and only headset i have had is useless now b/c of wire damage kind of pushes me to try out wireless
*Price Range, anything reasonable from 70-140 dollars is fine by me --- Vote for my new sig: http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/669289-call-of-duty-black-ops-ii/65284548
No, I will not recommend you Trittons or TBs, as both suck.
But if I had to, I'd say get whichever TBs cost $130 because I hated the Trittons that came at that price range. --- http://www.twitch.tv/vraage || GT: v Raage 3770K@4.7GHz || GTX680 FTW 4GB || 8GB 2133MHz || Maximus V Extreme || 250GB SSD || 2TB HDD || H100i (CPU) + H55 (GPU)
I honestly prefer my Trittons 720s over TBs. But that has to do with comfort. I will say a lot of people I know use TBs and they sound way louder than people with Trittons. Both are known to have cable issues though. Trttons 720s just have very few cables. --- ITP: Im hungry.-JVel91
Like I said, I can't recommend anything from Tritton or TB. I strongly dislike Trittons. I loved my TBs (X1s, back when they were still made) but the build quality was sort of meh. I'm fairly sure they've improved since then though.
If I were to make a suggestion that's within your price range I'd say pick up these: http://www.turtlebeach.com/product-detail/xbox-headsets/ear-force-dx12/57
Competes directly with Tritton AX720s (Or whatever Tritton makes at that price point these days).
Unfortunately any of my real suggestions fall several price points above what you have. The mixamp alone would be $130 unless you bought from ebay. If you can find a mixamp for relatively cheap on ebay I'd say get that and the TB X12 or a Steelseries headset (Whichever ones Joel didn't get, the one Joel had came with a disgustingly bad mic).
I hated my AX720s for three reasons. They were obscenely uncomfortable and seemed to weigh far more than they should have. The 3.5mm <=> 2.5mm cable that is used to connect from the inline volume controller to your xbox controller for chat volume was pathetically low quality, and a cable that size is extremely difficult to find at radio shack etc, and I really didn't feel like they had any better sound quality than my non-surround TB X1s that cost $50 at the time. --- http://www.twitch.tv/vraage || GT: v Raage 3770K@4.7GHz || GTX680 FTW 4GB || 8GB 2133MHz || Maximus V Extreme || 250GB SSD || 2TB HDD || H100i (CPU) + H55 (GPU)
