I hope the knife stays nerfed

The knifing in this game is fine the way it is. The regular knife (while holding a weapon mind you) doesn't have any form of lunge, which means you have to be holding hands distance with them to kill them in one hit with it.

@BrownPack I agree, I used it and loved it but I could see why it made some people upset

It was very annoying, yes. I hated it too, it killed me a lot, but not ONCE did I ever complain about it being OP.

So much this. Yes, if a guy with a gun comes up against a guy with a knife, the guy with the gun should win most of the time when there is distance between them. When they are only a couple of feet apart, (if each person has comparable reflexes) the knife should win. Not because it's OP but because it is a melee weapon that is meant to be used up close.

Personally, if someone with a gun can't kill a guy running only a combat knife before he closes to within 3 feet, I feel he deserves to be shanked.

What? No Weather Dominator? You just expect the weather to dominate itself, huh? That's so unprofessional.

The thing is though, the tac knife/combat knife/ballistic knife all have lunge abilities that let you almost instantaneously lunge at your victim within 3 feet or so. The only melee in the game that doesn't have any lunge whatsoever is the default knife you use when you are holding a gun/other weapon.

If the knife didn't auto-lock-on and hit people in ridiculous ways (both slash and lunge) then it wouldn't have been a problem in any other game either. A free-swing knife would have been better.

That is actually what the default 'holding a gun' knife melee attack is like now.

Exactly. Once you get close enough that shooting them isn't the best strategy, it should come down to who has the best control of their aim, and the best reflexes. That's how melee's should be used. If someone knife's me with commando, I deserve the death because I didn't hear them coming. If they knife me without it, I still deserve it because I wasn't careful. Knifing, commando or not was and is NEVER OP.

-tac knife- Only used with pistols. So that means that you'll have good knifing abilities, but at the sacrifice of lack of firepower ability.
-combat knife- used alone. Faster knifing ability, no handgun. Sounds like a bigger disadvantage.
-ballistic knife- ability to shoot a dart practically in a line that doesn't deviate from left to right. slow rate of fire, but one hit kill, but a challenge to use. Still sounds like a big disadvantage overall.

I still don't see the problem. If you had the so called lunge that you speak of with a primary gun like an AR or an SMG, then we'd have a real problem here.

As good as that sounds, I think a free-swing knife would actually be rather hard to use. This is a reasonable argument though. I think the real problem though lies within the hitboxes when knifing. I know all of us have seen killcams where the player lunged towards the enemy, stabbing the air next to their shoulder, but still earning the kill. I think as long as they fix that, melee-ing should be fine.

No, a lunge with a smg and AR would really benefit them all to well. That would benefit the shotguns more.

this this THIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!

YES IT'S ANNOYING
YES I DIED TO IT A FAIR AMOUNT

But not ONCE did I complain it was too OP.

Like people did with shotguns.
Like people did Ghost. I mean, Blackbird was the perfect counter to it.

The honest only things I ever considered to be OP was Assassin + Pro from MW3 (simply because it did the job of 3 perks in one) and OMA/Tube. That's about it.

You can claim SRP is OP, but it isn't 'gamebreaking' like some people claimed it was.

Obviously certain weapons are excluded, the MP40 and AKimbo 1887s (pre patch), Javelin Glitch, stuff like that needed to be balanced.
