I mainly just play Battlefield 3 (Ha, Some Benedict Arnold I am.) and whenever my friends get on I usually come and play. Don't play after 10:00 P.M. because that is when all the d-bags come out! :-/

In all honesty I don't even know why I come here anymore. I returned this game back to gamefly I believe 2 months ago. I cancelled my subscription. I don't even watch youtube videos that much. The only time I catch myself turning on my xbox is for Netflix or that rare day I decide to play MW2 for a bit like 2 days ago. Too bad I was quickly reminded how terrible the cod community is (mic wise) 5 minutes into the first game of FFA.

I don't know what changed I kind of find it a chore now for me to play cod I was so into it too. I mean hell I clocked in over 80 days of playtime alone on just MW2. But yeah xbox is boring for me now. Maybe its just a phase.

It might be.

Just wait for something new and fresh.

I think first person shooters has overstayed its welcome. I'm ready for something else... Hmm new burn out? Or maybe a nice mmo? Or perhaps a rhythm game that isn't with the connect nor guitar hero? Like bust a groove.

Err... I am hyped for battlefield 4, looks crispy.

But meh, what I really want is a next gen kingdom hearts....

Oh wait! I know what I need....
A new gaming system... Yeah its about time. Next gen will spark my love for games again!

*sits and waits.*

Not everyone grows out of video games and it's not childish to play them. I feel that a lot of gamers are casual gamers but just don't know it.

a casual gamer shies away from things such as: competitiveness (prefer games such as minecraft), steep difficulty spikes (enjoy games such as Pokemon), and games do not have exhaustive skill curves (games where it does not take long to learn how to play and play well e.g. Wii Sports).

I am super competitive at most games. Even the games I buy I try to max out the achievements for them and always play them on the hardest modes possible on my first playthrough yet I still enjoy Minecraft/Pokemon and other casual games.
Best part about a casual style game is no stress levels. I can get on my handhelds for a quick Pokemon fix or play Minecraft with my girlfriend since it is her only game really.

Just because people play casual games doesn't make them a casual player. Just look at competitive Pokemon players or people that spend hundreds if not thousands of hours playing Minecraft. You can't really call that a casual player either.

IMO a casual player is someone that doesn't take any games too serious. Probably don't go on forums too much to learn anything. Only real youtube videos they watch on their said favorite game is probably from the super big channels. Overall they just don't go "in depth" on any games they play.

Like I said, it's dependent on your definition of a "casual gamer."

I wasn't calling you a casual, I wasn't disagreeing with anyone, I was just pointing out the fact that some people would call people that play CoD casuals.

It's just a perspective to consider.

the lag is what killed this game for me

it just never feels like anything i do matters, whether i made a smart move or not, had good aim or not, shot first or not, it's all the same. if lag isn't on your side you're useless in that match. even when i do good it feels empty since i know my opponents were probably all getting insta-killed it's just dumb.

^this. ten times over.

Its because you care about being improving yourself. This game, like BO1 and MW3, has taken the next level up to casualizing the series...I say this because almost every single BO2 game is luck. Will lag comp give you or them an edge this time? Will you flinch in just the right way to get screwed? Will you recoil in such a way as to miss a critical shot, while your opponent doesn't at all? Will you happen to meet a shotgun player in close quarters? Will a lightning strike or hunter killer hit you? Will a quickscoper hipfire and 1 shot you? Will a blind grenade toss land on you? Will you be looking one direction, turn away, and then 1 millisecond later a lightweight+dex SMG flies around and beans you?

I could go on and on, but consistency is the problem; there's none in the game. You as a player are out of control of too many things, and the more skilled at the game you get, the more you realize just how much the game design is holding you back...you reach your limit too quickly and there's no where else to go. "Casual" players don't know enough about the game to see or understand these flaws even if you explained it to them. In fact, they subconsciously love these random occurrences because it helps them overcome their lack of skill (whether lack of practice, not caring, etc) and makes them feel like they just "owned" a guy because they shot him in the back. Random rewards = skinner box, same thing MMO's and casino's use to hook people.

The randomness was tolerable in CoD4/W@W, and even MW2 because there were enough controllable elements to make you really feel like if were good enough, you would destroy anyone, no matter how hard they tried. Unfortunately CoD has sold out complex gameplay to attract the masses (like tons of other games) and this is what we're left with. Nothing much to master, and once you do, you're just rolling the dice with everyone else (albeit with better overall odds). If you want a good competitive multiplayer game that doesn't coddle bad players while giving you control of almost everything, I'd suggest Starcraft, League of Legends/Heroes of Newerth, Counterstrike.
