Maybe dumb question, but is there a shop?

I was only able to play the demo for about ten minutes before I had to leave for work, and I didn't notice a shop in the arena.

Was I missing something, or are the "loadouts" more like your equipment in a PC moba?

No in-match shop, just the relics/potions/gems you buy for your loadout.

Does this work in the game's favor? I'm interested in how it will work, but at the same time I love getting equipment as the match progresses.

Eh, I prefer in-match equipment as well, but it's not a dealbreaker. The way it works here is you progressively gain access to gems/relics (that you have set up beforehand) as you play.

Fair enough. In that case then, is there a way to balance matches between high and low ranking players?

I don't really think so, at least not that I've noticed.

There is a Battlegrounds and Elite Battlegrounds option, but you gain access to Elite after a few wins, and the distinction seems to be more about the presence of bots and whether or not there is a time limit.
