Why are the battles in 2D?

Why can't they be in 3D? It's 2012, for crying out loud!

With 2D battle they can focus more on making the game bigger instead of making it prettier.

We can fight 12 demons at onces plus the 4 models on you side which makes 16 models on screen, tell me how the f*** thats a good thing if they were 3d? I don't want to waste that much time on 1 battle to wait for all those models to do their thing.

Because 2D battles allow us to see what the artist wanted us to see, instead of a polygonal representation. And 3DS' 3D looks better when applied to 2D sprites.

-Design choice
-More enemies can be on screen instead of just 3-4 demons
-Battle system would be more fast paced
-Throw back for SMT1, 2, if..., and SJ fans

DDS had to do 3 per side because anymore would be hard right? I think Nocturne slowed down at some point with some models but I'm not sure about that.

I was blown away by the visuals until I saw the battle sequences. It looks good, but I don't think it'll hold a candelabra to Nocturne. It'll be like the godfather part 3. Still very watchable, but missing Robert Duvall.
