Looks like actual platforming is in.

Not just the ledge climbing:) Been waiting for another 'Vania to try that since the 64 games. I saw a video with Gabe/Dracula In the zone where you apparently meat Kid Trevor having to jump across these chandelier things (he did have to rock them a bit) like a platformer. I haven't been able to find the video again, but it is out there. I think it was in Spanish if anyone wants to look.

Edit: Here it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VGvkL71AbEA

Why more Hack'nSlash types like this don't mix with platformers more is beyond me.

Agreed. Lords of Shadow 2 is actually taking the genre forward by experimenting through mixing and matching various elements from other gaming genres.

Other games such as trash Ryse are ruining the genre with pretty graphics and dumbed down gameplay (even iPad games have more depth than this piece of ****).

The guy says that there are lots of hidden areas and things to look for.

It's much more manageable to platform or go somewhere this time around.

The audio is pretty bad since the sounds and music cancel the guy out a bit too much.

That looks so much better and more organic than the lite platforming elements mixed with puzzles that LoS1 had.

Camera looks so much better as well. You can actually see what the hell your doing instead of guessing.

Pretty excited about how the game is open world like Metroid instead of levels. I especially hated how long it took to get from one level to the next in LoS1, it really didn't help the pacing.

This video also kinda shows whats up with the young Trevor. He seems to be an apparition made from Gabe's own guilt.

There's been a number of hack and slash with platforming. It usually doesn't work out to well though because the devs gave combat priority so the jump was mainly design to be a quick dodge style movement.

I'd say there nothing wrong with this game's jump has long has there's a method to stomp down quickly and/or have an aerial evade/block.

Yeah, I think the first one I played with platforming was DMC3. The camera though made the platforming bits really, really annoying.

I think this one will have a more open world (with the city) element though. I'm really curious on how they will pull that part off. Really, really curious about that city...

platforming on the first one was mediocre. basically you press R2 and watch as gabe goes from one platform to the next.

That wasn't the major problem. The major problem was trying to treat platforming as actual platforming and being punished by the game for it.

For example using a jump to skip having to do a balancing beam section. Yet, it's very easy to **** the jump and end up falling down a pit, which on Paladin basically rinses almost all your life. You have almost no room to do your own thing, the platforming in LoS1 tries to be linear as hell for no good reason. I've got the Assassin's Creed series if I want that, and at least AC keeps those sections fluid.

I don't mind the R2 to swing stuff too much, but I really don't like not being able to swing until the context sensitive purple flash is available, since sometimes the camera takes AGES to ****ing catch up, both in LoS1 and in MoF.

It's kind of weird that running changes the chandeliers momentum so easily yet they hardly budge when Gabriel lands on one. But that's just me being nitpicky haha.

Anyways, good find TC. I'm always in the mood for some new LoS 2 footage.

Also, lifegems are now in "painboxes", huh? Interesting.

And yeah, LoS 1 didn't really have a lot of "true" platforming. The closest was probably near the end after you got the Seraph Wings.

Also weird how the lifegems are red now. But seriously, "pain boxes"? 0_o To give Credit where credit is do, technically someone on the dungeon found it somewhere on youtube, and I just thought it was worth bringing up here (I love platformers, but think the combat in 90% of them suck, so always wish for hack n slash/platformer hybrids).
