The way i see it:
Prepper uses the survivors in order to get more supplies while sitting behind a monitor doing nothing but tell you how to do the hard work for him.
He's probably sitting in a room right next to the "safehouse", and when you die, he takes all the stuff you found, just like in the end sequence where he goes to check out the supplies box in the safehouse and stashes those things in his own safehouse.
At the end he's just getting ****** off at you because you are finding your own path and not following his commands anymore
Think about it
He is right beside the safehouse, his door is right by the wire gate beside the workbench.
He does use the survivors to get supplies for him,the first ending showed that he has a wall that is lined with gas cans for the generator. Our trip to the gas station was pointless.
He also had a pack of vaccine strapped to his non-pegleg,it was even previously stated that we're all infected. I just watched the ending again and there's nothing strapped to either of his legs. No idea what you're talking about. --- "I don't care! You gotta go down! It's gotta be that way!" - Johnny Utah "Death is a standard breach for a complex prize." - Deftones |
jkhayworthPosted 1/17/2013 3:03:34 PM | I agree that I wanted to help the prepper but also could see his ulterior motives. I don't think it was ever stated that everyone was infected, in fact it is important to the plot that everyone isn't. Otherwise the Panacea vaccine would be useless because it's not a cure. Also I was thinking about the Prepper and how slow he walked on his peg leg, maybe he can't go fend for himself. That's why he's frustrated when you leave because he can't defend himself well or get supplies, but at the same time he doesn't want to have to rely on anybody. So he rationalizes that it's okay if he uses survivors to help himself as long as he helps the other person as well in the long run. |
Johnny_Utah_Posted 1/17/2013 4:13:23 PM | ^Well that's the shady part about the Prepper. Is he really helping the survivor or just using them to get what he needs to survive in London? That can be debated either way. We really don't know what the "long run" is for the Prepper either. --- "I don't care! You gotta go down! DaverdarePosted 1/19/2013 7:51:34 AM | I think the Prepper doesn't even want the apocalypse to end, he's enjoying it in a way. He seems to be a military guy that doesn't give a crap about the "goal" of an operation but more the excitement of being part of this operation. It's a little bit ironic because that's exactly what many gamers actually want themselves. It's not about beating the game but about the journey you have. Who gives a damn about the ending? That's the persona of the prepper I think, he wants to survive, that's his goal. Survival is not a means to an end for them to find any cure, it's just the thing the prepper enjoys the most. |
12ehstevePosted 1/22/2013 7:06:21 AM | As menioned the prepper is holing up as he follows the predictions to the letter it seems. I don't think he IS stealing from the survivors, judging by his set up with the security feeds and stash he's well prepared for the long haul. I think the part with him entering the safe house, checking the bin, and taking a gun was just:
A. To show he's been RIGHT there the whole time B. To show that thing's are getting worse (given the horde size just outside the safehouse) and he wants to pack a little more heat C. Maybe he just needs to get out of his hidey-hole and strech his leg
Now, because HE'S so well prepared for this situation when he goes off and freaks out he's not just yelling at the survivor but also Sondra and the Ravens, taking credit for showing THEM how to survive. Basically, they listened to him and lived, he warned everyone, he saved them and now they are going against what HE thinks is right (holing up) so he feels betrayed, again, probably even thinking they're all doomed. What he's doing with the survivors is NOT for HIM but for THEM. He's already well taken care of in his own safehouse, and doesn't have the mobility to get more to help anyone else out. So he sits in his saferoom and helps others learn to stock up their OWN safe room, perhaps when they've accumulated enough he'd reveal himself.
Him sending you the gas station when he's shown with tanks is not using the survivor. He's simply showing you where to go to get what you need. How do we know he doesn't have his own generator in his room? I mean I'm pretty sure he's still talking to you and can 'see' what's going on when the generator is out, how is this possible? He has his own power source and he won't share his resources. The fact that you've also got your own CCTV station even helps this. He's given you the basics to set up your own safehouse, but you need to stock it up.
tl;dr - Prepper wants you to become self-reliant and stock your own safehouse. He won't share resources. He still thinks he's right and his way is right and feels betrayed by others that disagree.
In regards to the "we're all infected" it IS said. In the doctor's notes after you've collected all the letters, but it's in regards to palace staff I believe, not the general population --- http://s1227.photobucket.com/albums/ee424/ehsteve12/ My Legend of Zelda Collection - Last update Dec. 4/12 |
