He gives you a cricket bat, gun, ammo, and a flash light.

^ Not really....
That is stuff you take from the safe-house, or more accurately, the previous survivor that you had to kill as a zombie.
It was that survivor that had all that stuff.
The Prepper only has what other survivors loot and bring back.

...You've got power, technology, food, ammunition, a place to sleep, security, and a very good ally. So people say Pepper is using you - or is really that you are using Prepper? Think about it...

Omg, did you read my post? Thanks for agreeing with me anyways.

Nope, I simply joined the conversation as I've seen various arguments in other topics but never bothered to comment.

Where do you think the previous survivor got those items? The prepper. It's his safehouse after all.

People are saying that he was just using you. I say no, I think he wanted to help people because he knew of what would happen. He looked at your supplies in the end because if someone left you high and dry you would. I feel sorry for him he helped you, gave you a safe place to sleep, supplies, directions, help and you make secret pacts behind his back. He only wanted to help you stay there and survive but you left him. The world will be consumed in fire and he was the only one with a plan. There now my rant is over share some of your thoughts.

Sorry. It's pretty obvious he was just using you. Your theory is just a theory.

Pretty sure its the other way around considering you gave him nothing where he gave you everything. The most the player did for Prepper is get fuel and kill a couple stray infected.

LOL, no the prepper is just using you. It's very obvious, he cares about nothing but only surviving and caring about number one. His motives aren't very clear but it's clear he has no conscience and doesn't care about anybody else. He only helps one person at a time, he doesn't care about anybody else but the person he is using.

Prepper uses survivor. Survivor uses Prepper. It can be argued both ways. Prepper uses survivor to get supplies so he can stay in London and wait for the plague to end...if ever. Survivor uses Prepper for the safehouse and to gain knowledge and skill to perhaps find a way out of London. Survivor doesn't care about John Dee or prophecies or anything like that. Thread closed.

^ You really like the Prepper don't you ?
And you don't like it that more people are of the opinion that he is just using you, so you feel the need to then say that you are using him in the same manner, just to in a roundabout way excuse what he is doing.
How is the playable character using the Prepper in any way ?

The Prepper is the puppeteer pulling the strings, and you (the player) is the puppet that is dancing to his whims.

This is clearly shown when you decide to... help the doctor to try to find a cure. ....in which case the Prepper gets mad at you and chastise you for it.

Wow, people are really taking an irrational perspective to things, giving the 'hero' aspect way too much clout. Lets start with the fact that without Prepper you could not have done a single thing and for the matter you would have outright died had he not directed the player into the subway system. You use his Prepper Pad for nearly everything and use his resource to story & prepare for your little side adventures for the Doctor and the Ravens. You had a place to stay, technology, power - all the luxuries you never had without Prepper that allowed you to find & aid resources for the Doctor and the Ravens. Without Prepper you were nothing.

Then how about Doctor Knight and Prepper's response: John Dee explored a cure but never found one. The cure is as much as a fairy tale much like early alchemists trying to turn lead into gold considering Dee's tests killed his subjects (leading to the instant-death syringe.) His letters were laced with clues but needed Knight's research to finish it - a miracle if any existed. Prepper has no reason to place faith into science especially when his immediate survival is on hand and only a vague possibility that Doctor Knight even knows what he is doing. Why should he risk himself and those around him on a potential fool's errand? This isn't greed, its survival. If you pay attention to the lore its not like he didn't try to help others - with the Ravens he pursed preparation and was jailed for it. How can you blame the guy when his help only gave him betrayal?

As for 'pulling strings' the most the player did for Prepper is find the first couple CCTV boxes and head off towards Buck Palace. The player then runs amok on side quests until fuel for the safe house runs low. Even THEN Prepper says you should storm the petrol station and grab the fuel instead of risking your life at the Nursery but NOPE the 'player' is determined to do it the hard way. Even if getting the medicine is the moral thing to do the 'player' clearly made his/her own decisions regardless of Prepper's demands. Then lets not forget that Prepper WARNED you to stay away from the church - that its probably a trap and isn't necessary for your survival. The player then proceeds to end up in a trap and lives only because King Boris was interested games rather just looting your corpse. Yep, Prepper really pulled strings to throw you under the bus for his own sake. ALL that guy asked of you is to get stuff for the safe house and guard it.

The player is ONLY the hero in this situation if the cure exists and works, of which we don't know if it does. In the end Doctor Knight exclaims that its not a cure but a vaccine, but how do we know? He was clearly infected during our scavenger hunt and didn't survive his self-administered 'cure', just to claim it was a vaccine when it didn't work on himself. How and where did he discover it was a vaccine if he doesn't have live non-infected to try it and ensure it wasn't faulty? A true fool's errand - Doctor Knight dies along with whatever knowledge he had of the 'vaccine' and the player runs off with the Ravens leaving Prepper to rot. What a great hero the player must be.

Depends, there were other survivors and those survivors also had similar technology such as Doctor Knight who helped you upgrade the pad.

The prepper didn't show you how to use a gun, nor fight. He just led you to equipment. Saying the character you are playing would of outright died is funny as I'm sure the preppers voice could of easily attracted attention from the other zombies.

For what reason exactly? His motives are still unclear for all we know at the end he also could of been using you. How come there is only room for one in the safehouse? I doubt it's due to limited equipment. How come the prepper has very suspicious writings and drawings like he is up to something in the cutscene?
