I keep seeing journalists say this will be the definitive version of ME3

merely because you play it with a tablet and it has a new heavy weapon(which, judging by the rest in ME3, will be in 2-3 rooms at most).

Now I'm not trying to troll, but without carrying over saves from previous games the story is not nearly as special, and you miss out on tons of dialogue, npcs, plot and cutscenes. From someone that honestly cares about the trilogy and is in love with it, this version is going to be heavily gimped. I am glad that those with no other consoles can finally be introduced to this amazing series, but I wouldn't get this version unless I had no other choice. The new gameplay additions and Genesis 2.0(which will probably just be like the first and will only let you pick the most major choices) will NOT make this the definitive version, and anyone who disagrees is completely ignorant of what makes this series so special. Just my two cents.

Exaggeration and trying to create over-emotion in the public is the main role of a journalist and all those involved in news. Even if it breaks the secondary role (hey, it's secondary) of informing the public of truth, and even if they have to break the law.

So it's not surprising. I guess it depends where you read it also.

You can still make all the same choices form the first two games in a journal mode or something.

After release on the other systems, sales took a nose dive, mainly because of what fans thought of the ending, which has been improved with a free update since then, but is still a major let down compared to the rest of the series.
Bioware are just trying to improve sales with talk of the definitive version, the truth is it will just have the updated ending on the disk instead of having to download it,it will likely have some of the dlc thats been released as well.

Maybe, but PS3 will finally get to play ME1 with the Collection.
