First of all, how are these determined?

Trophy (high score in solo attractions)
Discovery (...what the hell is this supposed to mean?)
Success (...and how many? 1?)
Participation (number of players?)
Stamps (how often does this happen? and most of those are damn difficult)

I usually go for any solo attractions that have double coins, and try to go as far as I can in them, but I'm still not sure if that's a lot or what it is that determines the coins I get.

I try the team attractions and I'm not even getting crap after I play them. Combos in Battle Quest, sure. But do those really hold up most of the time? Damn Moblin shields. And I'm always getting hardly any coins at all in Metroid Blast. What is it that I'm missing here for more?

So what are some good ways to get a bigger amount of coins?

I assume discovery is how many coins you've found along the way.

Also in Metroid Blast, Killing Ridley nets 12 coins.

Every time you get a trophy (even if you have gotten that kind of trophy before) you get a couple of coins. I don't know how many coins you get for each kind of trophy but the better the trophy, the more coins you get.

Discovery was answered already. It is just how many coins you picked up while playing, like a coin from breaking a pot or finding one on the F-zero track.

Success...that one I don't know how it is determined. Maybe somebody else can help. I always assumed that if you beat a level in Zelda, Metorid, or Pikmin you got a success bonus for finishing the level.

Participation is always 1 for me but I have not played with other people in a few weeks so maybe you do get more if you if more players play with you.

Stamps is only if you got a stamp during that play session and each time you get a stamp it is worth 10 coins. Some stamps are hard to get but if you know the criteria for a stamp and want to try for it, wait until you see that event offering double coins. I typically check by hitting Y button in plaza and seeing if double coins symbol is on any of the events.

I don't know the best way to earn coins. Like you, I go play the ones offering double coins anytime they come up and after a round of that go back to working on my goal of getting gold stars on all attractions (dam Octopus Dance is my last hurdle). I want to say Pikmin has given me lots of coins but that might just be because I am working through the extra levels in that one.

The best way to get coins is to invite some friends over. They'll play it for a few hours at least and get you a ton of coins!

Wait for Mario Chase to have double coins. Use the guest Mii's (their stamps will be removed after you shut off Nintendo Land). And play five games where Guest A catches Mario the first second (run away, and run back, press 2 on the wii mote of the guest you want the stamp for). You get 5 coins for the five players participating, you get 10 coins for the stamp and then it doubles :). So that means 30 coins in about 30 seconds...

However, after these five rounds you should play again but let Mario win (run away as Mario, move on toad out of the way to be sure). Wait until 0:50 (that's when the star disappears). Run back to the question mark block (start position) as Mario and wait until you win. Then you get two stamps (20 coins), and 5 coins for participating in about 3 minutes (where you can browse the internet or read a book). If you keep playing you won't lose the double coins bonus so that means 30 × 5 + 50 × 5 = 400 coins in under 20 minutes.

Just keep track of which mii has which stamp already and press 2 on every controller (not at the same time) during the 'Mario is running away'-countdown if you get confused.

However, you'll get enough coins before you get bored to unlock every prize if you have a few friends over now and then and you'll really spoil the fun of getting everything this way (although it would be a cool sight seeing 40+ prizes shooting out of the tower (is there a video of all 200 prizes shooting out like that :D ?))

Hope this helps ^^

Max coins is 500, so I doubt it.
