I unlocked NiGHTS and I can't help but notice that he appears to have a stupid on his face. Ingame, in his kart, he looks nothing like he should. I feel like there's something I'm missing. It's like he's wearing a gray Chao mask over his face, with a halo wrapped around his head.

After a race his picture displays normally, and on the Winner's Podium he appears normally so why...?

Yes he very clearly has a stupid on his head this is established now.
But now it's not even NiGHTS in the car so now it's not a stupid on it's head, it's just a stupid.

It is a Nightopian driving Nights AS a car.
Nights can change into almost anything he/she needs to in the dream world and so for this game he/she is the car/boat/plane.

Oh ok, haven't unlocked it yet, didn't see the other forms. That's neat.
