Up until recently I had been racing people that were fairly decent to good, like deschain. It's only recently where I've been running into people that rage quit, race pretty slow, etc. I don't think it's fair to say everyone sucks. --- Nope, don't have a sig. Maybe later.
do you think that usain bolt is neither good nor bad at the 100m sprint because you have never run a race against him? no, you know he's good because he runs 100m in nine and a half seconds, which is faster than anyone else in an event where speed is the only thing that matters.
I didn't know there was random items available to throw at other racers in 100m... --- Those who know, don't speak. Those who speak, don't know. Those who... what was I saying by the way?
As much as I don't deny peoples skills in this game, saying one guy is uber than another simply based on the time attack is (excuse me the word), pure sh*t, I'll explain why:
- In Time Attack there's no "other racers that can throw items at you, bump into you etc...". - There no hazard on the track either (such as barrels/coins/mob etc... [unless way off the main road, like that House of the Dead track with the spiders, for instance] ). - There's no multiple different laps, only one single lap which is always the same (of course, for levels such as Casino one, the fact it's always the same lap doesn't matter (minus the coins, see just above), but for ones like, Sanctuary Falls, Rogue's Landing, Burning Depths etc...).
And, to complete my message with something you mentionned, I could beat Arrowny actually, somehow, he kept missing (or did I become good at dodging maybe?) his items tossed at me, and then on pure skills, I could beat him. So yeah, to judge if someone is better or not, gotta take multiple things into account, not just some Time Attack stuff and screw the rest (Especially when some peoples [me the first] don't really care of the world records, all I wanted was to beat the Expert Ghost to be done with it, once that was done, I didn't redo it). --- Those who know, don't speak. Those who speak, don't know. Those who... what was I saying by the way?
the thing is, the way you talk, make it seem like a profession.
Phoenix is pretty good, I've beat him a few times it probably works roughly around 50/50.
who cares who's the best at this game, no one. Even Mario Kart is more important. Ok, you're the best racer in the world, what do you want? A medal, what point are you even trying no to make anymore?
Yes, you can beat a lot of good racers, that doesn't mean they are horrible, it makes you good. Phoenix is the best racer I've gone against, I'll just play ALL DAY like a lot of these people do cause I haven't got anything else to worry about (joke). I'm sure when I've played the game 3 times as much as I have now, I'll be up there with the best, but by the time ive played for 60 hours I'll be bored --- NNID: Deep4t

I'm around 52 hours, I've unlocked all I had to unlock but 4 (8 with mirror) tracks ghosts & 5 stickers I named in this topic or another (I don't recall) of which I know there's 3 I'll never unlock. And I'm getting bored of the game, lol. --- Those who know, don't speak. Those who speak, don't know. Those who... what was I saying by the way?
Off topic but I am really looking forward to the pure Racers (no weapons) coming up. I'm going to get C.A.R.S. and I REALLY have my fingers crossed for Wave Race and F-Zero within the next 2.5 years. I am thoroughly enjoying Sonic Racing but sometimes... SOMETIMES these weapons make me want to chuck-a-troller! lol! When you get caught in a jam early on in the race, it's going to be nearly impossible to catch up with folks in the top 3 positions who actually perform well.
About Mario Kart. I will most likely pass on it (since I have this) UNLESS the game really (I mean REALLY) takes the sub-genre to a level far beyond what we are accustomed to. If we can say Sonic Racing raised the bar, Mario Kart U would have to raise the freaking sky or something.
Unless you have a really broad definition of suck.
I was saying "not good" not "sucks"
I didn't know there was random items available to throw at other racers in 100m...
what are you talking about
please read carefully before misinterpreting my analogies
simply based on the time attack is (excuse me the word), pure s***, I'll explain why
you think that, with all the reasoning I posted above, I haven't thought about items? the simple fact of the matter is that when you're in 1st, there's not much that matters aside from how fast you are and how good your reflexes are (for dodging swarms), which is why I gave items a lower priority than I would if we were talking about, say, mario kart. which we're not. this might be a kart racer but instead of the results being, say, 20% speed, 75% items, 5% luck, it's more like 80/19/1. which, interestingly enough, is about the same ratio as my wins/top 3s/losses-not-due-to-glitches on xbox lol
though you are right, items do matter and should be taken into account. but the way this game works is that the guy in 1st gets a breakaway if he's allowed to stay there for any length of time (say, half a lap). once that's happened, speed gets you caught up and then, in some cases, items get you past.
I used time attack as a reference point because, while it's true that there are more factors in a player's skill, speed is easily the most important and there are very few players I've found who were good but not fast.
Ok, you're the best racer in the world, what do you want? A medal, what point are you even trying no to make anymore?

funny you mention the whole medal thing, sumo sent me a signed & framed piece of concept art lol
you don't have to play all day to be good. I played about 2-3 hours a day max on xbox 360, not including the 20 hour live stream I did on day 1 to celebrate my university results.
also I'll say it again, my initial comment was about who was "good", not who "sucks". they are not a dichotomy. --- twitch.tv/fiveleafclover xbl: Q cumberR | nnid: fiveleafclover
