How do I play on my TV with the gamepad with two players?

I have 1 gamepad and 1 wii u pro controller hooked up to Sonic All Stars, but I can't seem to split screen them.

I tried "sliding" up on the gamepad screen to switch screens on the gamepad, but it doesn't seem to work?

You have to slide down, it's a little hard to do weirdly, you have to actually give it a big slide

That's odd...I did it tonight and it was pretty easy. The one with the controller got the TV and the one with the gamepad got...the gamepad. As long as both controllers are turned on and two little "man" symbols are filled in at the bottom of the menu screen then it should work.

Okay this is weird, it doesn't work sliding down for me either. Do you slide down when you're at the character selection screen? Also, which part of the gamepad's screen do you slide down?

Also, I am trying to have both the wii u controller and the gamepad on the big TV. I want the TV screen to be split in half. Sorry if there's any misconceptions.

You can't have both players on the big TV. The gamepad player will ALWAYS get the gamepad screen. The best thing you can do if you REALLY want to split the screen (not asking why you prefer this...) is to use two Pro controllers (or a Pro and a Wiimote, etc) and have NO ONE on the gamepad.

Yeah I believe so. The wiimote alone is played as a motion steering wheel, like Mario Kart Wii. Or you could play it with the nunchuck.
