DDS and Persona aren't Shin Megami Tensei games, so I don't know why you bring them up. But yes, I strongly believe that SMT 1 and 2 are easier than the original versions of Final Fantasy 1 and 2.

I never played Nocturne, 'cause it's 3D crap. And I will admit that Strange Journey is significantly harder than both FF1 and 2, but that's one game out of four (two if SMT3 is really that tough.) Doesn't make for the best example. Couldn't you have brought something up like Dragon Warrior II or Phantasy Star II if you wanted an example of harder RPGs?

I think you know too little about your games.

DDS, however, is NOT a Shin Megami game

The branding says otherwise.

Although it's really Megami Tensei since the first game didn't have Shin in the title.

They aren't available on the NA PSN. They are on the Japanese and European stores though.

so there are two megami titles with DDS abbreviations? /double facepalm

i was talking about Digital Devil Story, from which most of, if not all, the titles were derived from

never had a ps2, so.. never really got to play the megami games in it.

lol. Yeah by far and large no one uses DDS for anything but Digital Devil Saga really due to how few people have played Digital Devil Story by comparison and how long ago it came out. But Digital Devil story is STILL a Megami game anyway. I mean it's the ORIGINAL. It's even in the title. Digital Devil Story: Megami Tensei. That's why I said the collective series is really just Megami Tensei since it didn't start as Shin.

yeah. but what i meant on the quoted post was that "shin" titles only came after DD Story. i think the wiki will tell you about what "shin" actually means.

basically, anything that came after the first two (which are DDStory 1&2) are already "shin megami" titles.

oh yeah, i think i mistyped, too. i didnt mean "shin megami game", but rather "shin megami title" just to avoid further misunderstanding

Ah okay got you. And yeah that's because after the first game (and I believe second) they stopped using the book as the primary source to make the games.

About SMT:
The NA and EU franchise name is Shin Megami Tensei (SMT). The Jp one is Megami Tensei (MegaTen). This would be just like the DW/DQ distinction and present no problem, except it does have a problem: SMT refers to a specific subset of games in the MegaTen franchise in Japan (the ones that have SMT in the title in Japan).

Personally, I assume SMT refers to the NA franchise unless the threat clearly indicated that he's using the Japanese nomenclature (the easiest way to tell is if the person uses MegaTen somewhere).

As for the original FF1... It gets a reputation for being hard because the class balance was atrocious. People's first inclination is to make a typical adventure party (tm) of fighter, thief, white mage, black mage, which means the party has two useless lumps of flesh and a gimped red mage.

But the PSP (UMD) Version of Final Fantasy 1 and 2 has extra stuff , contents
and FF2(PSP and GBA) has a second story called Soul of Rebirth. Where
you play as Minwu , Scott , Josef and Ricard.

and the the 2 FF(PSP) Games has better graphics if yall care bout that.
