My friend set up a server. We're connected via Hamachi. Typed in IP address and password. Then I get some error. Anyone have any ideas?

My friend and I are LAN but we still just connect over the internet.

You need to port forward a certain port like 21025 or something. Check to be sure.

Anyway, I opened that port, got my IP and it worked flawless for us.

I use hamachi to play with my friends, and sometimes it takes a little messing with to get it to work.

Step 1 - Start Starbound Server

Step 2 - Create a new network in Hamachi (if you have a old network, delete it and make a new one. I do this every time)

Step 3 - Select Multiplayer and enter in your IP address

If you get into the game, your server is working, if you can't get into the game try restarting the server, create a new network, or do both.

Step 4 - After you're in your server have your friend join your Hamachi network

Step 5 - Have your friend select multiplayer and type in your server IP

Again, if this doesn't work try restarting the server or network. Most of my issues came from having my friend in the Hamachi network before I got into my server. So try getting into your server then have your friend join the hamachi network.

Also, a couple of times a simple restart fixed all issues.

Hope this helps.

Aw, boring. I was hoping for an actual logistical topic.

1) There's no map. Is there anyway to tell where are on the planet?

2) Is there anyway to get your ship so good you could just fly it to the planet? Seems very hard.

I know of the Party -> Teleport to Ship thing that works but yeah.

3) What are some good things to do in MP? You have to split ore if you mine and fight and stuff. Bosses, I guess.

I ended up just port forwarding since I couldn't get hamachi to work with it. It actually isn't that difficult. I looked up a guide and the process only takes like a minute or two.

I was able to connect to this server: 173.48.165.118

Connect there, invite your friend to your party and go to another planet.
