Is this coming to 360 or PS3?

I really want to play this. I've been watching some live streams, and it looks fun.

It's a mod of a game, so it's highly unlikely. If it goes standalone it could go anywhere. But the engine is and has been made for PC, so again it's unlikely.

The guy who created the mod is making it in his spare time, and of his own resources, (money etc) so there'd have to be a huge incentive for him to even consider a console release.

unlikely? More like impossible. PS3 and 360 simply can't run the engine. They aren't powerful enough.

Take it from a guy who has played on consoles for 20+ years. Get yourself a PC. It'll be another 2 years before we get new consoles, and another year after that before we get some decent games. I understand if you don't have the money, or are in some similar situation, but if you can afford a PC you might as well get one.

That used to be the case, but he's actually being paid to work on the mod now, full time.

When it goes standalone, he's going to profit a ****load.

I wish they would release it. Judging by the graphics I think at least the ps3 can run this.

Just because it can play the small maps of bf3 doesn't mean it can render the 225 km map arma II has

I wouldn't say it's impossible. After all, it's only based on Arma II, which is already in development for release on the 360.

Seeing how this is still nothing more than an alpha-phase modding project of Arma II, if anything keeps this off consoles, it'll be the legal issues (who actually owns the mod and makes money off of it), and not the technical issues.

The biggest legitimate technical issue I see is the account and player management under XBL and/or PSN, since you'd be relying on those servers to manage server connectivity and storage. That would also make it hard to manage the whole real-time time of day synchronization.

Not impossible, though.

that got canceled a LONG time ago. The main performance hit of arma 2 is not the graphics but the AI. They're totally unscripted so it takes a ton of processing power to get them working. (To test this play Single player, then try a multiplayer server where the server is processing the AI.) The consoles just don't have the processing power for it.

No, it isn't. The engine and the controls would be a nightmare to port. Viewing distance would be like 50 meters, maximum 5 players and 25 zombies per server, a 4/5 smaller map and lowest possible settings of pc version, then it would be possible.

360 doubt it would ever happen much less be able to run it. Xbox live holds them back big time.

PS3 could run it, doubt it would happen anytime soon. Controls would be a mess.
