Don't forget about retainers. They can hold 200 items and you can hire more than one at a time. Also, IIRC, we're not limited to just one set per class. I recall Yoshida saying we can get access additional "loadouts" for preset gear. Though even if we don't, the retainer system works well.

And second, you will eventually run out of quests to level off of (my guess is this will happen after you've maxed two or three jobs), and once there are no more quests, you will have to resort to other methods of leveling which may not be nearly as fun or entertaining (the thought of FFXI-style camping parties makes me shudder).

Leve quests, Grand Company quests (not sure if they count as leves in ARR), bestiary, and FATEs are there to prevent that. Yoshida also aid that grinding in dungeons is very effective....so there's that. So because of these things, you'll never run out of quests. And don't forget that each city is home to several classes (unlike other mmos) and with that taken into consideration, there will be more than enough quests to go around.

For those wondering how you're going to level with the bestiary:
For those playing solo, there will be quests, guildleves, as well as some other casual content we have planned, such as the "bestiary."

Honestly one of my fondest memories of ffxi was the party leveling in ffxi. Now take it as years went by the waiting for groups took longer and longer, but that's why they eventually made lvl sync and then alliance lvling

No offense to you personally. I'm just sick and tired of people saying that being able to level multiple jobs on the same character provides some kind of advantage. It doesn't.

I almost can't believe how ignorant you are. Almost.

Glanced through the posts in this topic, and felt compelled to address this one in some small way; the idiocy is just mind-boggling.

Actually, no, it's not subjective at all. It's entirely objective. There is no logical advantage whatsoever that is provided by the ability to play multiple jobs on the same character. The only thing it does for you is allow you to form a deeper attachment to a single character, which is an emotional reason, and not a logical one.

Actually yes, there is an advantage, albeit not one to make a big deal about it. Having access to multiple jobs can give you an easier time to find a party for a raid. For instance, the party you wanna join is in need of a healer, and you have a suitably leveled healer job class available. If you don't want to wait any longer and don't mind filling that slot then change to said job and off you go.

Again not a huge deal but a nice choice to have.

TS would just counter that by saying that the same thing can happen with alts, you don't need to be able to switch classes for that.

If you try to counter that by saying it's much easier to get gear for another class on your main character, TS would likely counter that by saying that MMOs should allow you to mail gear you get on 1 character, to another on your account.

There really is no point in trying to argue with him about this because he has a point with most of it, he just didn't notice for a while that his own argument can be beaten using his own logic (ie. the way things are currently, having class switching is superior, and if you try to say it's not superior because of what -can- be changed to the other system, then it's still superior because of what -can- be changed to this system too [not sure if that made total sense]). TS and I had amicably ended this discussion a while back, it's over.

Ah, the classic logical fallacy of the FFXI fanboys. When will you people learn that there are other reasons for wanting to level multiple characters besides simply playing another job?

Actually that is not true...to be a very effective players for end game content you need abilities from other classes, its not simply just playing another job as far as end game goes.

Duty finder
This finds parties for you to take on content with. Itís been confirmed that ARR will support cross server queuing as well.

Wait, cross server queuing or cross platform queuing?

Because I don't think players in separate servers can interact with each other. each one is their own independant world.

Cross server. There are quite a few MMOs with this feature. I know TERA and RIFT both have it. Both platforms will play on the same servers so when queueing up, they'd be group together based on who queues first and which roles (tank, dd, heal) need to be filled.

but wouldn't that be called Cross Platform duty finder? because cross server would be like if a player from Excalibur can be grouped with players from Durandal.

Players on PC and PS3 play on the same servers....which is why Microsoft won't allow SE to release it on the 360. There won't be servers exclusive to PC or PS3. And yeah, that's how cross server queueing works; You enter the queue and when a party forms, you and other players (from ANY of the servers) get teleported inside of the dungeon. Names are slightly altered as well. For example, if your name in the game is Cosmos Xenosaga and you're from Durandal, your name in the dungeon might be something like "Cosmos Xenosaga@Durandal". Not sure how SE is going to handle it, but that's how it is in the MMOs I've played.

oh that's weird. so people from different worlds can interact with each other in instanced dungeon content. but wait what if like one server is under maintenance? well guess they won't be brought up in the duty finder.

but where would that instanced be supported for plaeyrs from different worlds? what determines which server hosts that instance?

oh yea and for the record, I think the FAQ should describe Gold Saucer as an amusement park, not a casino.

Casinos don't have roller coasters (with lasers), gondolas, haunted houses, and other things the original Gold Saucer had.

FFXIII-2 was a bad representation of what a "Gold Saucer" should be. A Gold Saucer is whole lot more than just slot machines, races and other gambling related events.
