So the game is cross platform compatible, but are the accounts?

So I know you can play between the Ps3/Pc versions... but what I'm wondering is if I buy both versions can I share the same account? So if I want to play while I'm traveling I can load it on my laptop, but since it's not a very high end I would prefer to play on my PS3 most the time...

thanks guys. I searched for it, but all the results kept giving me were about PS3/PC servers being cross compatible... this just cemented my purchase 100%!

Just buy the PS3 version and download the PC client. No need to purchase both.

yeah i was pretty confident that this was true (like in FFXI), but a recent Q&A done on the SE forums indicates that separate codes will be required to access your account from each respective platform (this is assuming you don't have a FFXIV 1.0 account).

kind of a shame since FFXI wasn't this way and the fact that SE should be doing everything possible to support their playerbase.

EDIT: found the quote from Tanthalas and the Q&A

Let's say I make two accounts, one with the Windows Version and one with the PS3 version. Can I play my PC account on my PS3 without buying another copy for the PS3 version right?

When you register the Windows or PS3 version to an account, you're authorizing that account to log in from the corresponding platform. Registration codes from both the Windows and PS3 versions are required to log in to both platforms with 1 service account.
