This is what leveling in FFXIV looks like right now

We cannot ignore this and act like it's fine. Perhaps right now, when the game is fresh and new and people want to get to level 50 as quickly as possible, they are willing to overlook the fact that they are not having fun leveling in FATEs. We simply do it. Sure, the dungeons are fun, but those are few and far between compared to FATEs.

So what exactly is FATE leveling? Let's examine.
+Stand around in party starting at map waiting for FATE to spawn
+When FATE spawns, run there on your mount
+Spam your abilities (in some cases, ONE ability) non stop until objective is complete
+Get experience

There is no challenge. Nothing is making you think. You are not engaging your brain, you are simply doing. As a Black Mage, is my calling in life really to insert myself in the center of 50 mobs and spam one button over and over again? Sure, you will say that we have to think and use abilities wisely in dungeons. I agree. But that's not enough. You should not be able to go from 1-50 without turning on your brain or learning your class.

In this screenshot we've just hit Exp. Chain #26 and what the viewer doesn't know is that I was pushing a single button (blizzard) over and over, while at full MP, and eating a pizza in my other hand. Why?

That's what the most efficient leveling in FFXIV looks like.

That's not the way I leveled.

(Not saying it shouldn't be addressed, just that it's still your choice. I only mixed in FATE grinding when I was really really eager to hit the next level milestone).

So don't level with fates? I find questing and dungeons to be just fine for leveling.

Please propose a "fun leveling experience", cuz I've never seen one.

Questing is sort of okay for your first level 50. I am 43 myself and keep finding myself exhausting quests and main scenario quests and have to FATE grind a bit to be able to start the next scenario quests.

For example, this pic was taken when I was level 42. I had done all the main mission quests, and could not proceed until I was level 43. I had done all the normal quests from quest givers in all the areas leading up to that.

He also choose to increase the brightness and SHOW ALL ability to make the screen fill with all special effects.

Also, he seems to choose to have the most crowd region and level there with the most amount of people.

TC, you know you can go to different areas or tone down settings so you don't get seizure anytime soon, right?

He doesn't even have to look at the monitor to do his job in that FATE. Simply, tab, AoE, tab, AoE. Too ez!

No target needed for Blizz 2.. just mash the skill button
